  • Publication number: 20060114407
Abstract: An endpiece (E) is composed by disposing a pair of elastic inner and outer wiring or plating parts in juxtaposition. An outer part external member (1) is adopted to keep a shape and structure of the endpiece (E) intact and reinforced. The inner part is a buffer piece (2) doubled back into a hairpin shape and has at least a first bending portion (21) of convex shape and a second bending portion (22) of concave shape. When a temple (T) is unfolded to excess, the first and second bending portions (21) and (22) flexibly bend towards a direction to which those portions expand so as to counterbalance stress to which the external member (1) is subjected.

  • Patent number: 6998581
Abstract: The invention relates to a deep-fat fryer having a frying vessel (17) and at least one heating element (26) arranged in the frying vessel (17). The frying vessel accommodates a frying medium, for example frying fat or oil, the heating element first of all melting the latter, if appropriate, and then heating it to a temperature of from typically 100 to 200° C., in particular of from 150 to 190° C. In the case of known deep-fat fryers, the frying vessel usually consists of metal, for example stainless steel, enameled steel or coated, non-coated or anodized aluminum. In contrast, the deep-fat fryer according to the invention is characterized in that the frying vessel (17) consists, at least in part, of a transparent or see-through material, which allows visual monitoring of the frying process.

  • Patent number: 5933811
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for delivering customized electronic advertisements in an interactive communication system. The customized advertisements are selected based on consumer profiles and are then integrated with offerings maintained by different content providers. The preferred interactive communication system interconnects multiple consumer computers, multiple content provider computers and multiple Internet provider computers with an advertisement provider computer. Whenever a consumer directs one of the consumer computers to access an offering existing in one of the content provider computers, an advertising request is sent to the advertisement provider computer. Upon receiving the advertising request, the advertising provider computer generates a custom advertisement based on the consumer's profile. The custom advertisement is then combined with the offering from the content provider computer and displayed to the consumer.

  • Patent number: 5732216
Abstract: An audio program and message distribution system in which a host system organizes and transmits program segments to client subscriber locations. The hose organizes the program segments by subject matter and creates scheduled programming in accordance with preferences associated with each subscriber. Program segments are associated with descriptive subject matter segments, and the subject matter segments may be used to generate both text and audio cataloging presentations to enable the user to more easily identify and select desirable programming. A playback unit at the subscriber location reproduces the program segments received from the host and includes mechanisms for interactively navigating among the program segments. A usage log is compiled to record the subscriber's use of the provided program materials, to return data to the host for billing, to adaptively modify the subscriber's preferences based on actual usage, and to send subscriber-generated comments and requests to the host for processing.

  • Patent number: 4842243
Abstract: Apparatus for molding hollow metalwood golf club heads of wax or other material with variations in the lie angle of the neck or hosel relative to the body of the club head, in which two molds with communicating mold cavities are supported for turning of one mold about a pivotal axis to change the angular relationship of the two cavities. The molds have arcuate abutting surfaces coaxial with the pivot for effective meeting relationships in the different positions, the hosel base being slightly oversize to accommodate the displacement, and two core pieces in the molds have part-spherical abutting surfaces, also coaxial with the pivot for effective "kissing off" of the parts. The movable mold is detented in one of eight different positions, in one-degree increments. Another embodiment produces solid-headed irons with selected different lie angles of the hosel, but with only one core piece, which is in the hosel mold.

  • Patent number: 4505327
Abstract: Heating and cooling apparatus includes an evaporative cooler and a heat pump connected to each other and to a common duct system for utilizing the attributes of both systems for efficient heating and cooling. The evaporative cooler may be used to cool a structure directly or it may be used to cool the condenser coils of a heat pump. The evaporative cooler may also be used to cool attic space. The evaporative cooler and the heat pump are disposed adjacent to each other and are connected by an interface adapter, and the interface adapter is in turn connected to attic space through which air from the attic flows, particularly to assist the heat pump in the heating mode.
