Patent number: 10350547Abstract: A process is disclosed for reversibly absorbing carbon dioxide to an alkali metal or earth alkaline absorbent. For absorption the absorbent is contacted with a first gas composition. For desorption the absorbent is contacted with a second gas composition. The moisture contents of the first and second gas compositions are controlled so that during the absorption step the absorbent is converted to a bicarbonate, and during the desorption step the absorbent is converted to a carbonate hydrate. Compared to prior art processes the process of the invention requires less energy input. The process of the invention is particularly suitable for producing a carbon dioxide enriched gas for accelerating plant growth in a greenhouse.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2014Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: ANTECY B.V.Inventors: Antonie Bijl, Timo Roestenberg, Rafael Rodriquez Mosqueda, Gerrit Brem, Paul O'Connor

Patent number: 8754269Abstract: Disclosed is a process for reacting carbon dioxide with hydrogen. In the process a catalyst having carbon dioxide adsorbed thereto is contacted with hydrogen at an elevated temperature. The catalyst can be regenerated by contacting depleted catalyst with a carbon dioxide source, for example a flue gas of a power plant. In a preferred embodiment carbon dioxide is reacted by in situ hydrolysis of water.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2012Date of Patent: June 17, 2014Assignee: Antecy B.V.Inventor: Paul O'Connor

Publication number: 20140090972Abstract: A photocatalytic process is disclosed for the reduction of carbon dioxide and water. The process comprises reacting carbon dioxide and water in the presence of a photocatalytic composition that is irradiated with electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength in the range of from 200 to 700 nm. The photocatalytic composition is capable of chemisorbing carbon dioxide.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2013Publication date: April 3, 2014Applicant: ANTECY B.V.Inventors: Paul O'CONNOR, Avelino CORMA CANOS, Hermenegildo GARCIA GOMEZ

Publication number: 20140057139Abstract: A system is disclosed for energy supply and storage. The system is self-contained. It comprises a means for generating solar electric power. Electric power can be converted to a liquid fuel, such as methanol, in a reversible liquid fuel cell. The liquid fuel is stored. When demand for electric power exceeds the supply of solar power, electric power is generated in the liquid fuel cell using stored liquid fuel.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2013Publication date: February 27, 2014Applicant: ANTECY B.V.Inventors: Paul O'CONNOR, Gerrit VAN PUTTEN, Jacobus Cornelis RASSER, Sasa MARINIC

Publication number: 20140000157Abstract: A process for converting carbon dioxide to liquid fuels for a liquid fuel composition and/or a platform chemical composition. In this conversion process carbon dioxide is adsorbed to a catalyst composition, and reacted with hydrogen to form oxygenated hydrocarbons. Hydrogen for use in the process can be generated in situ or ex situ. The process can be carried out in a fully carbon neutral manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2013Publication date: January 2, 2014Applicant: ANTECY B.V.Inventors: Paul O'CONNOR, Sjoerd DAAMEN

Patent number: 8519012Abstract: Disclosed is a process for storing solar energy in organic compounds. The process comprises providing a water source and a carbon source. Water present in the water source is activated using solar energy. Activated water is reacted with the carbon source to form an organic compound comprising hydrogen and carbon. The organic compound has higher energy content than the carbon source. In a specific embodiment the organic compound is used as a fuel in an electricity-generating device, such as a fuel cell. In this embodiment the preferred organic compound is methanol.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2012Date of Patent: August 27, 2013Assignee: Antecy B.V.Inventor: Paul O'Connor
