  • Publication number: 20120329601
Abstract: The invention concerns a multiple ratio transmission device with permanent meshing, in particular for making a gearbox capable of providing gear shifts without interrupting the power transmission, for example an automatic control or sequential control gearbox. Said device comprises three coaxial planetary trains using selective coupling means so that each provides local direct drive or at least one transmission ratio. According to the invention, said device comprises two coaxial planetary trains (TP1, TP2) belonging to two different power paths (8a and 8b) between an upstream rotary member and a downstream rotary member. Said device comprises two gear-type transfer elements (TR1, TR2) of different ratios, interposed between one of the rotary members and one of said planetary trains (TP1, TP2).

  • Patent number: 7537539
Abstract: The transmission device (1) comprises two power paths (8a, 8b) mounted in parallel, permanently connected to the upper shaft (2) of the engine (3) and the lower shaft (4) to control the differential (6). In each path (8a, 8b), each gear ratio Ia, IIa, IIIa or Ib, IIb, IIIb is obtained by activating a single activator capable of adapting the rotating speed between the two shafts 2 and 4 during gear ratio changes. A control device (17) synchronizes the activations/deactivations during gear ratio changes, whether the newly activated gear ratio is in the same path or a different path.

  • Publication number: 20070265132
Abstract: The invention concerns a transmission device (12) mounted between a supercharger compressor (7) and a pulley (11) designed to drive same from the vehicle motor. The device comprises two successive modules (16, 46) each capable of a direct engagement ratio through a free wheel (31, 61), or of an overdrive ratio by locking the planet gear (21, 51) by means of a clutch (26, 56) clamped by a spring (28) or released by the action of centrifugal counter-weights (32, 62) whereof the action is at least compensated by the axial thrust of the teeth Fp produced by the planet gear (21, 52) when it is loaded. The invention is useful for independently regulating the rotational speed of the apparatus (7) notwithstanding the speed variations of the pulley (11).

  • Patent number: 7229379
Abstract: For a first gear ratio, the flyweights engage the clutch and thus connect the input to the sun wheel, whilst the ring gear is immobilised by the free wheel. For the second gear ratio, the flyweights push the ring gear against the axial thrust of the helical teeth in a direction causing the engagement of the clutch against the ring and thus, at the same time, the disengagement of the clutch. The thrust produced by the teeth on the ring gear decreases and transmission then occurs from the input to the ring gear, whilst the sun wheel is immobilised by its free wheel. The speed increases further, the flyweights rise further, compress the prestressed springs and push the ring in the direction of the engagement of the clutch, which produces direct drive.

  • Patent number: 6468176
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for adjusting the smooth engagement of a gear ratio shift wherein a planetary train (7) is engaged in direct gear by the action of centrifugal counter-weights (29) locking a clutch (18). The clutch release can be derived either from a hydraulic actuator (18) or from axial reactive forces of the ring helical toothing, reaction which is transmitted by an axial stop (B2). In order to prevent the clutch (18) from being suddenly locked by the action of the counter-weights (29) in particular when the torque to be transmitted quickly disappears, a control unit (453) detects the instantaneous ratio (VE/VS), and generates measured back pressure in the actuator (45) while the counter-weights (29) are locking the clutch (18). The invention is useful for adjusting the smooth engagement of gear ratio shifts.

  • Patent number: 6336890
Abstract: A device and a method of controlling a progressive change of an overall transmission ratio from an old transmission ratio to a new transmission ratio are described. The method is applicable in a transmission device comprising a first and a second gear trains which are independently shiftable for determining together an overall transmission ratio of the transmission device. The method includes detecting a physical magnitude which is influenced by progressive ratio change in the second gear train, resulting in a progressive variation of said overall transmission ratio in one direction, and also includes controlling an actuator of a first selective coupling means as a function of a detected value of the physical magnitude to progressively change a transmission ratio in the first gear train in a direction contrary to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 6042500
Abstract: The coupling device, such as a clutch, comprises an alternation of first discs (22) made from hardened steel and having teeth (25) for rotational coupling with a first member of the clutch, and second disc (19) having teeth (15) for rotational coupling with a second member of the clutch. The second discs (19) are made of carbon fibers embedded in a carbon base material, with no support inside the disc. The stable and progressive operation of the clutch and the life time of the discs are improved. Costs and space-requirement are reduced over all-carbon devices.

  • Patent number: 5993346
Abstract: The crown wheel of a planetary gear is connected to an input shaft while the planet carrier is connected to the output shaft. The sun wheel is locked by means of a free wheel when the clutch is released. The device then operates as a reduction gear. The sun wheel rotates with the crown wheel and the planer carrier when the clutch is engaged. The axial forces (F.sub.AP, F.sub.AC), sustained by the sun wheel and the crown wheel when in gear-reduction mode, and resulting from the helical tooth configuration, tend through the stop to compress a spring and release the clutch. When in direct drive and beyond a certain torque, the clutch slips, thereby generating the above-mentioned axial forces which compress the spring and accelerate disengaging. The device operates as a reduction gear until the torque on the shaft is reduced, thereby, enabling the spring to re-engage the clutch.

  • Patent number: 5885180
Abstract: A planet gear (9) connected to the input shaft (2a) and a planet carrier (13) connected to the output shaft (18) can be coupled by a clutch (18) operated in clamping by fly weights (29) and a spring (34) to bring about direct engagement. If clamping is insufficient for torque to be transmitted, the crown wheel (8) slows down and is then immobilized by the free wheel (16). The device then acts as a reduction gear, with a piston (44) acting on the housing (2) in the direction which will release the clutch (18) and applying a brake (43) preventing the crown wheel (8) from rotating even in the direction normally permitted by the free wheel (16). Narrow bleed ducts (151, 172) of a chamber (40) associated with a piston (44) and a damping chamber (171) prevent sudden variations in the state of the clutch (18).

  • Patent number: 5655984
Abstract: A transmission apparatus in which a differential-type transmission device has rotating elements with intermeshing teeth, one of which elements is connected to an input shaft and the other to an output shaft. One of the rotating elements is a reaction element, and the transmission apparatus has a selective locking mechanism mounted operatively between the reaction element and a housing of the transmission apparatus. The selective locking mechanism has a free-wheel for enabling the reaction element to rotate in the same direction as the input shaft and the output shaft when a selective connection device connects the rotating elements of said differential mechanism in order to cause direct drive operation. When the freewheel is locked, the reaction element is integral in rotation with a rotor of a brake which is able to be selectively released in order to release the rotor and the reaction element in relation to said housing.
