  • Patent number: 4377991
Abstract: An internal combustion apparatus is disclosed having a linear output. A metered quantity of gas fuel is transferred between a cylinder head and the disc of a plunger reciprocable in a principal chamber between top and bottom end of stroke positions. In the displacement of the plunger to its bottom end of stroke position air and fuel are intimately mixed in a one-way flow path around the disc including nonparallel and/or burred orifices in a perforate plate attached to the plunger. The fuel may be liquefied gas fuel in which case it may be vaporized by the combustion gases exhausted from the principal chamber to the surroundings through an annular exhaust zone coaxial of throttle passageways for carrying fuel from the metering piston to the principal chamber. Alternatively, a pressurized gas fuel may be used in which case the pressurized gas is utilized in the operation of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 4075543
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel method for determining the multipole windings of electric induction machines. This method is based on the operational modulation, which consists in modulating a 2p-pole basic winding by q sequences of complex operators (a.sup.o, a.sup.1, . . . a.sup.r, . . . a.sup.m-1) wherein said operators are the m m.sup.th roots of the unity in a m - phased system, so that the polarity of the modulated winding is .vertline.2p.+-.2q.vertline.. In a 3-phased system, the wiring diagram consists e.g. in 9 main branches of windings coupled into 3 main parallel coupled stars, and this diagram requires only 6 outputs and two 3-pole switches for switching from one speed to the other.

  • Patent number: 4074621
Abstract: Novel infusion-making machine characterized by a filter consisting of superposed crowns located in a centrifuging chamber eccentric with respect to a central shaft rotated by a motor, and submitted to a compound motion. The adjustments of the crowns permits infusing and filtering over a broad range so that the machine may be used in a variety of applications.

  • Patent number: 4055982
Abstract: A calorimeter for measuring the latent energy of a sample at a pressure of at least 1,000 bars has a test chamber enclosed in a substantially adiabatic enclosure. It has thick walls able to withstand the very high pressure, and is connected by capillary tubing to means for holding it at a set pressure. The test chamber and a reference body which is thermally equivalent to the chamber are surrounded by respective adiabatic jackets and symmetrically arranged in an isothermal enclosure which is held at a set temperature. A differential gas thermometer has bulbs in contact with the test chamber and with the reference body, and a two-input differential pressure measuring unit has each input connected by a capillary tube to one of the bulbs. The pressure measuring unit has a manometer capsule with a respective input on each side of a flexible membrane, a capacitive pickup for sensing the position of the membrane, and electronic readout means. It is enclosed in a thermally insulative case.

  • Patent number: 4030731
Abstract: Electronic equipment for scoring fencing bouts in which each fence is provided with a unit including a transmitter of a predetermined frequency and an aperiodic receiver. Each fencer's unit also includes a pulse generator whose pulses are used to distinguish valid touches, touches on the opposing weapon and the ground as well as touches on other conductive surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4030115
Abstract: A development tank for the daylight development of photographic material comprises inner and outer vessels, axially reciprocal in relation to one another, and defining between them an annular space in which the material to be treated is placed in the absence of light, this space then being closed light-tight by a lid. The inner vessel provides a water bath by which the treatment solution is heated and maintained at the desired temperature. The treatment solution is introduced into a closable conduit and is delivered to the annular space and discharged therefrom by the axial movement of the vessels relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 3969928
Abstract: The mechanical properties within a part are determined as a function of depth in a non-destructive manner by punching the body with a series of punches having different radii of curvature. Using a plastic criterion with the data obtained the elastic limit of the body as a function of depth is determined as well as the residual self-stresses that exist in the part.

  • Patent number: 3964023
Abstract: A master controller is connected via a pair of wires to a plurality of loads and is capable of generating pulses having either positive or negative polarity and a voltage level either above a first threshold or below a second threshold or above the second threshold. Some of the slave units connected via these two wires to the master controller are singly handicapped and have a single zener diode whose avalanche voltage corresponds to the first threshold so that the load is energized whenever this first threshold is exceeded. Other units have a second zener diode in series of the first diode and itself having an avalanche voltage equal to the second threshold so that only when this second threshold is exceeded is the load energized. In such a system it is possible to provide a memory circuit to short circuit this second zener diode if it is desired to remove the double handicap and partially emancipate the slave unit.
