Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods for identifying an object in an image are provided. In one example, the method includes identifying a first object related to an electronic image. The image includes at least a second object. Based at least in part on the identity of the first object, social networking information related to the first object is used to programmatically identify the second object. The first object and/or the second object may be a person. In some embodiments, metadata associated with the image may be used to identify the second object. Based at least in part on the identifications, social networking information may be associated between the first object and the second object.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for controlling access to an application. A first request to use an application may be received from a first user and an application access rule associated with the first user may be accessed. Based on the application access rule, it may be determined that permission is required for the first user to use the application. In response, a second request may be sent to a second user requesting permission for the first user to use the application and a response to the second request may be received from the second user. The response may include authorization information used in determining whether the first user has permission from the second user to use the application. In response to receiving the response from the second user, the first request to use the application initiated by the first user may be handled based on the authorization information.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for transmitting, to user devices, data for potential targets predicted to be identified in an augmented reality application. One method includes receiving a request for target data related to at least one physical object within an image of a real-world environment captured at the device; identifying a current target representing the physical object within a virtual environment corresponding to the real-world environment; determining at least one potential future target to be identified at the device based on identified coincident target requests; and sending to the device target data for each of the current and potential future targets based on the determination, wherein the device presents the target data for the current target within the virtual environment displayed at the device and store the target data for the potential future target in a local memory of the device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for online data-linked telecommunications decisioning and distribution. One method includes receiving call data relating to a telephone call from a telephone device of a user to an interactive voice response (“IVR”) system; accessing a database storing correlated call data and user data; retrieving correlated call data and user data based on the telephone number of the call data; determining a confidence score defining a confidence that the received call data relates to the retrieved correlated call data and user data; correlating the received call data with retrieved call data and user data when the confidence score is greater than a threshold value; determining an IVR response to present to the user via the IVR system; and transmitting the determined IVR response to the IVR system for presentation to the telephone device of the user.

Abstract: A client may be enrolled in a notification system by receiving a notification instruction for a user to enroll in the notification system, identifying metadata associated with the notification instruction, prompting the user for activation of notifications for the metadata based on the metadata, and enabling the user profile to receive notifications for the metadata when a user elects to receive notifications in response to the prompt.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for displaying available or recommended electronic multimedia content to a user, including electronic media content on the Internet. According to one implementation, a method is provided that includes receiving a request from a user, the request specifying electronic media content desired by the user; analyzing an indexed web history of a plurality of other users, based on the request for desired content; and selecting and sorting a subset of available content groups, based on the request for desired content and the indexed web history. The method also includes selecting and sorting, for each selected and sorted content group, a subset of available content; providing instructions to display, to a user, the selected and sorted content groups along a first axis of a two-dimensional grid; and further providing instructions to display, to the user, the selected available content for each content group along a second axis of the two-dimensional grid.

Abstract: Enabling recipients to share tags that they associate with received e-mails includes receiving an e-mail from a sending user addressed to a receiving user, the e-mail including a header and a body and being capable of supporting attachments to the e-mail that are distinct of the body. The receiving user is enabled to perceive the e-mail and associate at least one tag with the e-mail, the at least one tag being a textual descriptor for the received e-mail distinct from the header, body, and attachments of the received e-mail. The received e-mail and the at least one tag are stored in a data store associated with the receiving user. The at least one tag is propagated to at least one of the sending user and another recipient of the e-mail to whom the sender sent the e-mail.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for filtering electronic communications in a communication system. The method includes receiving a message report from a user in response to an electronic message received by the user, and identifying a confidence value associated with the user from whom the message report is received. The method also includes adding, if the confidence value exceeds a predetermined confidence value threshold, the confidence value to a signature value associated with the electronic message, and determining if the signature value exceeds a signature value threshold. The method further includes filtering the electronic message if the signature value exceeds the signature value threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for dynamically selecting a connection path between a client device and a server. One method includes receiving, over a network at a server, a connection request from a client device; authenticating, by the server, the connection request from the client device; determining, by the server, a connection path for the authenticated client device based on the connection request; determining, by the server, whether the connection path for the authenticated client device is a new connection path based on the connection request; and storing, by the server, the connection path to a connection database in association with the authenticated client device when the connection path is determined to be new, the connection database including a plurality of connection paths between the client device and the server.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for timing message notifications to be provided to mobile device users based on their geographic locations with respect to geographic areas associated with a threshold level of content consumption. The timing of message notifications may be controlled in order to optimize the chances of delivering targeted content to a mobile device user based on the current geographic location of the user's device relative to a threshold level of content consumption area. As mobile device users may be more likely to launch a client application in a place where other users are currently consuming content, a general message notification sent to the user's device located in a geographic area associated with a threshold level of content consumption, may increase the likelihood that the user will launch the client application and thereby, allow targeted content to be delivered to the user's mobile device.

Abstract: A system and method allows a user to view communications exchanged between other participants within an online chat room without the user becoming a participant within the online chat room. The online chat room enables ongoing exchanges of electronic communications between two or more participants whose participation within the chat room are mutually revealed to each other. A user is enabled to perceive the existence of the online chat room without the user becoming a participant within the online chat room. Selection of the online chat room by the user is received. Responsive to user selection of the online chat room and without the user becoming a participant within the online chat room, at least some of the communications exchanged between the participants within the online chat room are made perceivable to the user as the communications are exchanged.

Abstract: Search results may be yielded based on a search query. A search query inspired by a user may be received. Based on the search query, multiple search results each including links may be determined. The multiple search results may include a first search result that includes a link to a first digital instance that describes or embodies a first content item, and a second search result that includes a link to a second digital instance that describes or embodies a second content item. A perceived popularity may be assessed for each of the first and second content items. The perceived popularity may be a measure of the popularity of the first and second content items, and may be distinct from a popularity of the first and second digital instances. A presentation of the multiple search results may be determined based on the accessed perceived popularity.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for displaying electronic multimedia content to a user. One computer-implemented method for manipulating electronic multimedia content includes generating, using a processor, a speech model and at least one speaker model of an individual speaker. The method further includes receiving electronic media content over a network; extracting an audio track from the electronic media content; and detecting speech segments within the electronic media content based on the speech model. The method further includes detecting a speaker segment within the electronic media content and calculating a probability of the detected speaker segment involving the individual speaker based on the at least one speaker model.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for timing message notifications to be provided to mobile device users based on their respective geographic locations with respect to a targeted content area. The timing of message notifications may be controlled in order to optimize the chances of delivering targeted content to a mobile device user based on the current geographic location of the user's device relative to a targeted content area. As the particular client application may not be actively executing at a time when the user's device happen to be located within a targeted content area, a general message notification sent to the user's device, which may be displayed at any time, may increase the likelihood that the user will launch the client application when it is not already executing at the device and thereby, allow targeted content to be delivered to the user's mobile device at the appropriate time and location.

Abstract: A distribution of a content selection being distributed throughout a wireless mesh network may be tracked. A wireless device in the wireless mesh network enables the content selection to be exchanged. Wireless devices then exchange the content, and a network topology is recorded in response. Finally, the network topology is reported to a reporting agent.

Abstract: To secure an accessible computer system, the computer system is monitored for connection transactions. An access requestor is denied access to the computer system when the access requestor initiates a number of connection transactions that exceed a configurable threshold number during a first configurable period of time. The monitoring may include detecting connection transactions initiated by the access requestor, counting the number of connection transactions initiated by the access requestor during the first configurable period of time, and comparing the number of connection transactions initiated by the access requestor during the first configurable period of time to the configurable threshold number.

Abstract: Computer-implemented systems and methods are disclosed for providing social games. In accordance with one implementation, a computer-implemented method comprises receiving a selection from a user to activate the social game. The method also includes receiving, with at least one processor, the previously recorded content for the social game. In accordance with the present disclosure, the method also includes playing back, in response to the selection, the previously recorded content to the user and recording the user's interaction with the previously recorded content while playing back the previously recorded content.
