    Abstract: The invention is directed to an active intrauterine device comprising a hydrophobic substrate of high mechanical resiliency, wherein the substrate including within the volume thereof inclusions of polymerizied hydrophilic substances grafted on the hydrophobic substrate and cross-linked, and in which water-soluble chemical agents have been stored previously, these agents being adapted to perfuse through the hydrophobic substrate when the latter is placed in an aqueous medium.
