Abstract: Described herein are anti-inflammatory fractions and compounds, medicaments, methods and uses thereof. The fraction may be obtained from honey. The fraction shows a generalised anti-inflammatory response. Also described are method f producing the fraction as well as a method of testing the anti-inflammatory potential of a honey by completing the fractionation and a cell test.

Abstract: Immune-stimulatory compositions and methods of manufacture are described with an unexpectedly greater immunostimulatory effect on the immune system than the individual components alone. The compositions include a combination of arabinogalactan protein (AGP) compounds, particularly those derived from honey or with similar activity to honey derived AGP's along with apisimin proteins, peptides or functional fragments thereof, particularly those isolated from royal jelly or apisimin produced via recombinant methods.

Abstract: A flexible dressing for direct application to a wound for absorbing exudates. The dressing comprises an alginate fiber sheet having honey fully impregnated through the fiber sheet such that the dressing has moist surfaces, and on application to the wound, the dressing becomes gel-like as exudate is absorbed.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the use of honey in medical dressings. Preferred embodiments modify honey with a viscosity increasing agent, resulting in a range of possible compositions including ointments and salves, self-adhesive gels such as for use on mouth ulcers and pustules, and pliable or flexible sheets which can be used as a wound covering. Preferred viscosity increasing agents include both particulate and continuous gels, respective examples of each including agars and alginates. Selected honeys preferably, but not necessarily, exhibit antibacterial properties other than what is merely conferred by osmolarity and sugar concentration effects.
