Patent number: 4765506Abstract: A combination container and lid for storing food or other air perishable products. The container includes a wall having a sealing rim extending about the periphery thereof. The rim includes three surfaces. The lid includes peripheral sealing means in the form of a peripheral flange and an annular rib spaced from the flange and defining therebetween an annular recess. The annular recess is adapted to receive the rim of the container. The flange is somewhat resilient and includes an angled surface to cooperate with a portion of the rim to insure that the rim is fully seated with the recess, whereupon three separate annular, fluid-tight seals are produced.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1987Date of Patent: August 23, 1988Assignee: APL CorporationInventors: Aaron H. Patent number: 4660725Abstract: An integrally molded storage receptacle having sidewalls which taper slightly from front to back to facilitate removal of the receptacle from the mold in which it is made. The receptacle also includes pairs of compensating ribs to enable it to be stacked on similarly constructed receptacles while maintaining vertical alignment. The receptacle also includes a transparent pivotable door.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1985Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Assignee: APL CorporationInventors: Aaron H. Fishman, Joseph Bottitta

Patent number: 4583667Abstract: A dispensing container for dispensing a plurality of different types of items, e.g., vitamins. The container is constructed to include a jar and a releasably securable lid. The jar includes vertically disposed and radially extending partitions to establish a plurality of separate chambers, each adapted for storing a different type or a combination of items. The jar portion further includes a plurality of passages, with each passage being in communication with a respective chamber. The lid includes a downwardly extending sidewall having a dispensing slot located therein. The lid is releasably and rotatably secured to an upper portion of the jar by an annular projection on the sidewall of the jar which engages an annular recess on the inside of the sidewall of the lid. Accordingly, as the lid is manually rotated, the dispensing slot can be brought to overlie a respective passage in the jar portion to permit the dispensing of an item from the associated chamber.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1983Date of Patent: April 22, 1986Assignee: APL CorporationInventors: A. Patent number: 4223800Abstract: A refrigerator container for food. The container includes a receptacle portion comprising a plastic which is resistant to flexing and a lid for sealing the container. The lid has an inflexible portion which comprises a material having the same shrink properties as the receptacle and a resilient portion, the inflexible portion including a peripheral flange which extends parallel to the inner surface of the mouth of the receptacle portion, the outer surface of the peripheral flange being substantially the size of but slightly smaller than the inner surface of the mouth of the receptacle portion. The resilient portion of the lid includes a peripheral flange that fits about and closely adjacent the outer surface of the peripheral flange of the inflexible portions so that when the lid is used to close the container there is a tight fit between the lid and the mouth of the receptacle as the flange of the inflexible portion is urged against the flange of the resilient portion.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1979Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: APL CorporationInventor: Aaron H. Patent number: 4032028Abstract: A screw-type safety cap for use in combination with a bottle is disclosed wherein the bottle is of the type having a threaded neck with a top planar edge. The cap includes a top wall and a depending peripheral skirt. The skirt has a thread on the inner surface thereof for rotatably engaging and securing the cap with the threaded neck of the bottle. The cap has a resilient member disposed under the top of the cap for engaging the top edge of the neck. The threads of the cap and the threads of the bottle are so dimensioned in thickness and space therebetween that the cap is axially slidable with respect to the bottle. The threads on the bottle have at least two interruptions which form at least two recesses in the threads of the bottle. The cap has at least two projections on the inner surface of the skirt. The projections are spaced both axially and radially with respect to each other as are the two recesses in the bottle thread.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1976Date of Patent: June 28, 1977Assignee: APL CorporationInventors: Oscar Reiss, Leon R.
