Patent number: 9114156Abstract: An antimicrobial skin composition comprised of an antimicrobial agent, an alcohol, one or more pH sensitive viscosity builders, a plasticizer and water. Preferably, the viscosity builders of the present invention are comprised of pH sensitive methacrylic polymers which are alcohol compatible and have pH controlled water solubility. The composition combines the advantages of an antimicrobial agent and an alcohol, and has a viscosity of from 100 cp to 1,000. This viscosity is sufficiently low for purposes of dispensing and applying the preparation, yet sufficiently high to cause the solution to remain in the area of the wound and not flow away or pool under the patient. The preparation further forms a water-resistant film that is difficult to remove during wound irrigation, but can be easily removed upon completion of the procedure. In addition, the preparation is fast drying so as to take advantage of the fast high initial kill properties of alcohol.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2008Date of Patent: August 25, 2015Assignee: Aplicare, Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 8999302Abstract: Embodiments of a skin dye protectant formulation comprise at least about 30% by weight of a film forming composition, at least about 40% by weight of a solvent, water, at least 0.1% by weight of a dye, and at least about 1% to about 5% of antioxidants, wherein the formulation is operable to substantially maintain the color of the dye when the skin dye protectant formulation is subjected to gamma sterilization.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2009Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Aplicare, Inc.Inventor: David Alan Childers

Patent number: 7673754Abstract: A sterile, compact packaging is provided to present components in order of preferred or required use in a medical procedure. Pockets are arranged along one or more end sections of the packaging, and an absorbent material is at least partially adhered to the moisture proof sheet at a workspace thereon. Components are placed in the pockets in order of use, and the packaging is folded up. The folded packaging is sealed in a gas-permeable pouch, which maintains the components in a sterile condition until use. In use, the packaging is unfolded to expose the medical components.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2007Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Aplicare, Inc.Inventors: Bruce H. Wilson, Jr., Philip Justin Hamrock, Joan Marie Lang, Steven D. Kimmell, Gregory Robert Art
