    Abstract: A portable audio device with microphone and controller includes a generally portable housing; an aperture in the housing having sides sloped between 15 and 45 degrees relative to a central axis of the aperture with a large end that opens out of the housing and a small end that opens into the housing; a microphone inside the housing, in line with the aperture, so that sound enters the device and passes to the microphone; an audio output that provides an audio signal representing the sound; a meter on the housing that displays an input level for the microphone and an output level for the audio output; and a controller that controls the input level and the output level. An elastomer dampener for the microphone resists vibrations. Other inputs include an external connection for a musical instrument, second microphone or other input with a 48-volt power source.

It includes: a switch with a visual indicator, transitionable between first and second states, or multiple states; a symbol on the visual indicator to identify the navigation function; and a communication interface to the electronic system. The device utilizes the communication interface to send a first message related to the navigation function to the electronic system in response to the user operating the switch; the device utilizes the communication interface to receive a second message related to the navigation status from the electronic system; and the visual indicator transitions between the first state and the second state to indicate the navigation status. The device may be used with the feet, freeing the hands to play an instrument such as a guitar, and provides tactile and visual feedback.

    Abstract: A phase locked loop circuit may be utilized as a low jitter clock regenerator in order to generate an extremely stable low jitter signal which is to a large extent immune from input phase and frequency noise. The slaving clock generates an output at a fixed phase relationship to a reference input. The clock regenerator is advantageously implemented by a logic gate type phase detector connected to a multi-stage loop filter. The loop filter output is connected to a phase correction circuit whose output is mixed with the loop filter output to provide a control input to a voltage controlled oscillator. The voltage controlled oscillator output may be provided directly, or through a frequency divider, to a feed-back input of the phase detector.
