  • Patent number: 4976621
Abstract: Apparatus for styling a hair replacement, the apparatus consisting of a headblock, in two forms, each form presenting an edge which simulates the front hairline of the ultimate user of the hair replacement whereby the edge may be utilized in styling the hair replacement when it is placed in overlying relationship to the headblock after manufacture and for styling. In one form, the edge is created by forming a flat face on the headblock and on the other form by defining a concavity in the face area of the headblock, the concavity having an upper wall which presents an edge for use in styling. The method of using the apparatus involves utilizing such a headblock by placing a hair replacement over the scalp area of the headblock with a portion of the hair replacement extending over the edge and then styling the hair replacement and leaving a portion of the hair replacement extending over the edge after styling so that when placed upon the head of the user the hair replacement will have a natural appearance.

  • Patent number: 4739777
Abstract: A hair replacement for use on a human head is comprised of a plurality of hairs that are connected to a flexible sheet-like base member. Certain of the hairs are shorter in length than other hairs, and the hairs are also of preselected, contrasting colors. The hairs on the hair replacement are arranged to show a gradation in color as well as length. As a result, the different lengths of the hair render all of the colors visible, whereby a streaked or sun-bleached effect may be realistically provided. In preferred forms, the hairs are arranged in tufts located at spaced intervals along the base member, and the average length of the tuft increases as the rear of the hair replacement is approached.

  • Patent number: 4254784
Abstract: An improved hair unit assembly and method is disclosed wherein the user's natural hair is employed to attach the hair unit in place. In practice, one or more elongated, apertured tubes are placed adjacent the user's natural hair, and strands thereof are pulled into the tubes; an elongated, frictional locking member or adhesive is then inserted within each tube to secure the tubes in place. An appropriate hair unit can then be secured to the tubes by any one of a number of techniques. Reinforcing tube segments are also used to interconnect and bridge spaced hair-receiving tube sections to thus rigidify the overall assembly.
