  • Patent number: 12051918
Abstract: A wireless power transfer device can include a coil that couples to a corresponding coil of a counterpart device to facilitate wireless power transfer, a power converter coupled to the coil, and controller and communication circuitry that monitors one or more observable parameters associated with the wireless power transfer to detect a presence of a foreign object that is not the counterpart device and control the power converter responsive to detection of a foreign object. The controller and communication circuitry can perform foreign object detection based on power accounting that includes estimating friendly metal losses associated with the counterpart device. The controller and communication circuitry can receive from the counterpart device friendly metal loss modeling parameters associated with the counterpart device, the modeling parameters including one or more coefficients relating to a wireless power transfer current and one or more coefficients relating to a wireless power transfer voltage.

  • Patent number: 12052764
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for reducing latency in a high-propagation-delay wireless communication system. A base station may receive from user equipment device (UE) a random access initiation message, having a characteristic that is configured to indicate to the base station a requested size of a subsequent uplink grant to be provided by the base station for transmission of uplink data by the UE. For example, the characteristic may include a predetermined preamble included in the random access initiation message, such that a requested grant size is indicated by which preamble the UE selects from a plurality of possible preambles. As another example, the characteristic may include which RACH occasion is selected by the UE to transmit the random access initiation message. In response, the base station may allocate resources for use by the UE based on the characteristic.

  • Patent number: 12052643
Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for public land mobile network (PLMN) selection for disaster roaming in a 5G wireless communications system. A user equipment (UE) can receive two or more messages that disaster roaming service is offered by two or more forbidden public land mobile networks (PLMNs) of a forbidden PLMN list of the UE. The UE can select a first forbidden PLMN of the two or more forbidden PLMNs, where the first forbidden PLMN corresponds to a highest priority PLMN of a preferred PLMN list of the UE, and establish communications, via the transceiver, with the first forbidden PLMN. Some embodiments include designating a forbidden PLMN as offering a disaster roaming PLMN for manual selection. Some embodiments include enabling a Closed Access Group (CAG)-capable UE to access disaster roaming services from a forbidden PLMN of a CAG-only cell or a 5G cell.

  • Patent number: 12052609
Abstract: Some embodiments include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for using low layer protocols for inter-cell mobility management in a 5G wireless communications system. A serving 5G node B (gNB) can configure reports that a user equipment (UE) transmits to the serving gNB to make handover decisions. The serving gNB can configure a group of Transmission Configuration Indication (TCI) states (e.g., a group of beams) that correspond a physical cell, and the report includes layer 3 measurements corresponding to a neighboring or serving cell's TCI state. The report can be conveyed using lower layer protocols. The report can include layer 1 measurements conveyed using a layer 1 protocol and the serving gNB can perform filtering to generate corresponding layer 3 measurement results. Based on the reports, the serving gNB can perform a handover and synchronization using lower layer protocols, from one TCI state to another.

  • Patent number: 12048547
Abstract: This is directed to an electronic device having an integrated sensor for detecting a user's cardiac activity and cardiac electrical signals. The electronic device can include a heart sensor having several leads for detecting a user's cardiac signals. The leads can be coupled to interior surfaces of the electronic device housing to hide the sensor from view, such that electrical signals generated by the user can be transmitted from the user's skin through the electronic device housing to the leads. In some embodiments, the leads can be coupled to pads placed on the exterior of the housing. The pads and housing can be finished to ensure that the pads are not visibly or haptically distinguishable on the device, thus improving the aesthetic qualities of the device. Using the detected signals, the electronic device can identify or authenticate the user and perform an operation based on the identity of the user.

  • Patent number: 12050360
Abstract: A lens assembly includes a stack of thermoplastic lenses that are aligned along a common optical axis and that are interleaved with metallic disks having an open central portion. Peripheral portions of each of the thermoplastic lenses adhere to the interleaved metallic disks to form a fused stack of lenses. A method of making the fused stack of lenses is disclosed and includes subjecting a set of interleaved lenses and metallic disks to an alternating current electromagnetic field that induces eddy currents in the metallic disks, causing heating that melts the adjacent lenses. The melted thermoplastic lens material adheres to adjacent metallic disks. The metallic disks reduce stray light from entering the lens stack, while permitting light to enter central portions of the lenses.

  • Patent number: 12050532
Abstract: A routing circuit for an integrated circuit configured to access a set of resources that are organized according to a topology with a plurality of dimensions. The routing receives a request for a particular resource of the set of resources that includes an address that includes first and second sets of bits, the topology having a first dimension with n routing options (where n is not a power of two) and a second dimension with m routing options. The routing circuit determines first and second routing selections for the first and second dimensions by performing respective modulo-n and div-n operations on values formed from the address that include the first and second set of bits. The routing circuit then activates one or more selection signals in accordance with the first and second routing selections that are usable to cause the particular resource to be selected in response to the request.

  • Patent number: 12052187
Abstract: Techniques discussed herein may better ensure efficient fine time tracking during a second cell (SCell) activation procedure by using a tracking reference signal (TRS) that is User Equipment (UE) specific. A primary cell (PCell) may provide a UE with a TRS configuration that includes a UE-specific reference signal (RS) with periodicity or aperiodicity. In response to receiving a SCell activation command from the PCell, the UE may perform cell activation with fine time tracking in accordance with the UE-specific RS. As the delay time for the UE-specific RS may be less than the delay time for a system synchronization block (SSB) from the SCell, use of the UE-specific RS may expedite the cell activation procedure.

  • Patent number: 12050766
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to manipulating a user interface on a wearable electronic device using a mechanical crown. In some examples, the user interface can be scrolled or scaled in response to a rotation of the crown. The direction of the scrolling or scaling and the amount of scrolling or scaling can depend on the direction and amount of rotation of the crown, respectively. In some examples, the amount of scrolling or scaling can be proportional to the change in rotation angle of the crown. In other examples, a speed of scrolling or a speed of scaling can depend on a speed of angular rotation of the crown. In these examples, a greater speed of rotation can cause a greater speed of scrolling or scaling to be performed on the displayed view.
