Patent number: 11520465Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device may generate a day view, month views, and year view that show cards specific to each view. The cards include images, videos, and/or other assets from a media library that reflect a corresponding time frame of the card on which the assets are displayed. A selected view is presented in a graphical user interface (GUI) for interaction with a user of the media library. Upon selection of an asset displayed to the GUI, the view is switched to show more assets from a time frame similar to the selected asset while maintaining a focus on the selected asset.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2019Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Eric Circlaeys, Guillaume Vergnaud, Samantha E. Patent number: 11520629Abstract: The subject technology provides for dynamic task allocation for neural network models. The subject technology determines an operation performed at a node of a neural network model. The subject technology assigns an annotation to indicate whether the operation is better performed on a CPU or a GPU based at least in part on hardware capabilities of a target platform. The subject technology determines whether the neural network model includes a second layer. The subject technology, in response to determining that the neural network model includes a second layer, for each node of the second layer of the neural network model, determines a second operation performed at the node. Further the subject technology assigns a second annotation to indicate whether the second operation is better performed on the CPU or the GPU based at least in part on the hardware capabilities of the target platform.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2020Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Francesco Rossi, Gaurav Kapoor, Michael R. Patent number: 11521359Abstract: Implementations of the subject technology provide systems and methods for recording an extended reality experience in a way that allows the experience to be played back at a later time from a different viewpoint or perspective. This allows computer-generated content that was rendered for display to a user during the recording, to be re-rendered during playback at the correct time and location in the recording, but from a different perspective. In order to facilitate this type of viewer-centric playback, the recording includes a computer-generated content track that references resources for re-rendering the computer-generated content at each point in time in the recording.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2021Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Maneli Noorkami, Ranjit Desai, Perry A. Patent number: 11521563Abstract: Certain embodiments are directed to techniques (e.g., a method, an apparatus, and non-transitory computer readable medium storing code or instructions executable by one or more processors) for mitigating the flicker on the displays at low driving frequencies due to drops of the voltage holding ratio of the materials for the display. The techniques to compensate for flicker in a liquid crystal display can include generating a dynamic waveform for the backlight of the display. The dynamic waveform can be synchronized with the driving rate of the liquid crystal display such that the luminosity of the backlight increases during periods when the voltage-holding ratio drops in the materials of the display. In this way, a liquid crystal material can be utilized in a display to generate reduced power consumption with liquid crystal rate minimizing the flicker in response to the drops of the voltage-holding ratio.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2021Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Zhibing Ge, Chengrui Le, Yuechen Wu, Xiaokai Li, Lingyu Hong, Chaohao Wang, Shih-Chyuan Fan Jiang

Publication number: 20220383189Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for predicting cognitive load. A computing device receives sensor measurements from sensors. The sensor measurements correspond to characteristics of a user during the performance of a task. For each sensor, the computing device derives, from the sensor measurements of the sensor, a set of features predictive of the cognitive load of the user; generates, from those features, a self-attention vector that characterizes each feature of the set of features relative to another feature; and defines a feature vector from the features and the self-attention vector. The computing device generates an input feature vector from the feature vector of at least one sensor. The computing device then uses a machine-learning model to generate an indication of the cognitive load of the user during the performance of a task from the feature vector.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2021Publication date: December 1, 2022Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Joseph Yitan Cheng, Amruta Pai, Erdrin Azemi, Matthias R. Patent number: 11513677Abstract: An electronic device displays a messaging interface. The messaging user interface includes a search affordance and a conversation between a user of the device and another user. While displaying the messaging interface, the device detects activation of the search affordance. In response, the device ceases displaying the messaging interface and displays a search interface. The search user interface includes a search field and categorized content items. The categorized content items include a content item stored on the device and a content item from the Internet. While displaying the search interface, the device detects selection of a first item in the categorized content items; and, afterwards, displays the first item in the conversation. The device transmits the first item to the device that corresponds to the other user in the messaging session. The other user's device displays the item in a conversation that corresponds to the messaging session.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2016Date of Patent: November 29, 2022Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Imran A. Patent number: 11513874Abstract: A method and an apparatus for determining a usage level of a memory device to notify a running application to perform memory reduction operations selected based on the memory usage level are described. An application calls APIs (Application Programming Interface) integrated with the application codes in the system to perform memory reduction operations. A memory usage level is determined according to a memory usage status received from the kernel of a system. A running application is associated with application priorities ranking multiple running applications statically or dynamically. Selecting memory reduction operations and notifying a running application are based on application priorities. Alternatively, a running application may determine a mode of operation to directly reduce memory usage in response to a notification for reducing memory usage without using API calls to other software.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2020Date of Patent: November 29, 2022Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Matthew G.
