Patent number: 11037354Abstract: Some implementations involve, on a computing device having a processor and a memory, creating a model of a jointed 3D asset that includes at least one joint that connects a first object to a second object, where a first end of the first object connects to a surface of a deformable coupler such that the first object is capable of rotating relative to the second object, and a second end of the second object connects to the surface of the deformable coupler such that the second object is capable of rotating relative to the first object. In various implementations, applying a motion to the model of the jointed 3D asset deforms the deformable coupler to allow translation of the first object with respect to the second object while allowing the first object and second object to rotate.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2020Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Scott R. Patent number: 11037272Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to reducing line banding artifacts in raw image data. If the same line of pixel sensors (e.g., in a row) in an image sensor includes a subset of pixel sensors that receive bright light and another subset of pixel sensors that receive low light, line banding artifacts may appear in the capture raw image data. To reduce or eliminate the line banding artifacts, the raw image data is normalized by adding offset values to its pixel values. The offset values are determined from the pixel values obtained from masked pixel sensors on one or both sides of the image sensor.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2019Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Sheng Lin, David R. Patent number: 11035884Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are presented for performing network probing. A user equipment device (UE) may store a record associating traditional service set identifiers (SSIDs) with corresponding Short SSIDs. According to some embodiments, the UE may receive a message including a Short SSID, and determine whether a corresponding full SSID is known to the UE. Based on the determination, a probe request may be generated, addressed to either the Short SSID or the full SSID. After transmitting the probe request, the UE may receive a probe response, which may include a full SSID corresponding to the Short SSID. The UE may store a record associating the full SSID with the Short SSID, if applicable. According to some embodiments, a UE may receive a plurality of messages including respective SSIDs, and may generate a single probe request addressed to the SSIDs. The UE may receive a plurality of probe responses.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2019Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Guoqing Li, Jarkko L. Kneckt, Yong Liu, Christiaan A. Patent number: 11039417Abstract: For paging user devices that are link budget limited (LBL), a base station transmits a special ID that is used by said devices to identify a paging frame and/or a paging occasion. When transmitting a paging message for an LBL device, the base station may use: (a) larger aggregation and larger CFI (than conventionally allowed) and (b) a larger number of resource blocks (than conventionally allowed) for paging payload. If paging messages for LBL devices saturate the paging frame capacity, the base station may allocate a plurality of special IDs. If paging messages for LBL devices and/or other data transfers saturate network capacity, at least a subset of the LBL devices may be directed to enter a connected-state discontinuous reception (DRX) mode, wherein those devices will remain in connected mode and periodically check for resource allocations. Paging payload information may be repeatedly transmitted in successive subframes, to support soft combining.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2019Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Tarik Tabet, Syed Aon Mujtaba, Moustafa M. Patent number: 11039544Abstract: This is directed to systems and methods for coupling sections of an electronic device together. Sections of an electronic device can be coupled together via “knuckles.” The particular shape and structure of the knuckles can be based on various design considerations. For example, in some embodiments each section can function as an individual antenna. In this case, the knuckles can be designed in order to provide electrical isolation between the sections, thus allowing proper operation of the antennas. For example, the knuckles can be formed from a dielectric material, etc. As another design example, the knuckles can be designed in order to provide increased strength in areas of high strain, and/or to counteract torsional twisting in areas of high impact. As yet another design example, the knuckle can be designed in a manner that is aesthetically pleasing or which otherwise meets cosmetic requirements.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2019Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Nicholas Merz, Daniel Jarvis

Patent number: 11039382Abstract: Systems and methods of measuring reference signals in a multefire scenario are described. A UE receives control information anchor channel dependent on whether the UE is in an adaptive frequency hopping system (FHS) and whether the FHS is a LBT FHS. The reference signals are received on an unlicensed band via the anchor and/or a non-anchor channel and measured for RRM and/or in-sync or out-of-sync measurements. RRM measurements are transmitted to the eNB for mobility management and otherwise the validity of an in- or out-of-sync indication is determined and a counter started when valid. The control information has a subframe configuration and resource allocation, which is used for SRS transmission on the non-anchor channel. Uplink scheduling information is received on the anchor channel for data transmission on the non-anchor channel based on the SRS.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2018Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Huaning Niu, Wenting Chang, Anthony Lee, Seau S.
