  • Patent number: 10306047
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide an intuitive way for a first electronic device (e.g., a head unit) to request context information from a second electronic device (e.g., a phone or tablet), and to store the context information in association with an affordance (e.g., such as a physical or virtual button on the head unit) so that the context can be later recalled in response to input on the affordance.

  • Patent number: 10306476
Abstract: An interface circuit in an electronic device may receive, from an access point associated with the electronic device, a frame with management information that enables the electronic device to use a spatial-reuse technique, where the electronic device, through the spatial-reuse technique, adjusts a transmit power and a channel-availability sensing threshold. Moreover, the management information may specify parameters for the spatial-reuse technique. Then, the electronic device may transmit, using the spatial-reuse technique, one or more frames to the access point based on the parameters. Furthermore, the electronic device may transmit, to the access point, feedback information that indicates communication performance during the communication between the electronic device and the access point. For example, the feedback information may include a retry rate and, more generally, communication-performance information. This feedback information may be used by the access point to modify the parameters.

  • Patent number: 10305627
Abstract: A wireless communication system is presented for adaptive uplink (UL) link adaptation (LA). The adaptive UL LA can include multiple outer loops, for which multiple block error rate (BLER) filtering is performed. Each of the multiple BLER filtering can be performed on groups or sub-groups of subframes, in which each group has the same or similar coding characteristics. For example, one group in TD-LTE could be subframes with sounding reference signal (SRS) and another group could be subframes without SRS. Each of the multiple BLER filtering can use the same or different BLER algorithm, BLER target and/or BLER parameters.

  • Patent number: 10306495
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and computer readable media are described that determine a connection state between a mobile wireless device and a wireless network upon detection of an interruption of a connection between the mobile wireless device and the wireless network. The mobile wireless device transmits an uplink resource allocation message to the wireless network, and when receiving no response to the uplink resource allocation message, transmits a random access message to the wireless network. When receiving no response from the wireless network to the random access message, the mobile wireless device executes a radio link failure procedure. In an embodiment, the uplink resource allocation message includes a unique identifier for an existing radio resource control connection between the mobile wireless device and the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 10305635
Abstract: A method for transmitting data in a multiple-input-multiple-output space-time coded communication using a mapping table mapping a plurality of symbols defining the communication to respective antennae from amongst a plurality of transmission antennae and to at least one other transmission resource. The mapping table may comprise Alamouti-coded primary segments and may also comprise secondary segments, comprising primary segments. The primary segments in the secondary segments may be defined in accordance to an Alamouti based code pattern applied at the segment level to define a segment-level Alamouti based code.

  • Patent number: 10303885
Abstract: Methods and systems for securely executing untrusted software are described. In one embodiment, two virtual memory mappings are used (one readable/writeable-RW and the other readable/executable-RX). In one embodiment, compiled software is used at run time through pointers to the RX virtual memory space and a compiler causes the storage of the compiled software in the RW virtual memory space through the use of an executable function (e.g. a memory copy like function) stored in an executable only memory region.

  • Patent number: 10305643
Abstract: A wireless access point transmits a protocol data unit (PDU) that includes data and signaling for a plurality of user devices. The PDU spans a channel in frequency and an interval in time, and includes a first signaling section, a second signaling section and a traffic action. For each of a plurality of subchannels of the channel: the first signaling section includes (within the subchannel) a corresponding redundant copy of common signaling information for the user devices associated with the access point; the second signaling section includes (within the subchannel) a corresponding set of user-specific signaling information for a corresponding group of one or more of the user devices; and the traffic section includes (within the subchannel) a corresponding set of traffic data for the corresponding group of one or more user devices. Subchannels sizes may be configurable. A signaling set CRC may be included per subchannel.

  • Patent number: 10300557
Abstract: A hybrid laser modulation and acid etch process for the creation of a patterned substrate. According to some embodiments, a hole is formed in a glass substrate by first modulating a portion of the substrate in the desired shape. A mask is coated on the glass substrate and is patterned to expose the modulated portion. The glass substrate is then acid etched to remove the modulated portion. Once the modulated portion has been etched, the desired shape may be removed from the glass substrate and the mask may be stripped.

  • Patent number: 10305770
Abstract: A uniform protocol can facilitate secure, authenticated communication between a controller device and an accessory device that is controlled by the controller. An accessory and a controller can establish a pairing, the existence of which can be verified at a later time and used to create a secure communication session. The accessory can provide an accessory definition record that defines the accessory as a collection of services, each service having one or more characteristics. Within a secure communication session, the controller can interrogate the characteristics to determine accessory state and/or modify the characteristics to instruct the accessory to change its state.

  • Patent number: 10306307
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to select display settings for a display device. Device capabilities may be read from a display device and a determination made whether the device capabilities support other display formats than are read from the display, for example, a high dynamic range (HDR) format or a high resolution format. When the device capabilities do not include an format supported by a video source, video may be driven from the video source to the display device in the format and, if confirmation is received that the display device displays the driven video, settings may be stored for the display device identifying the format as a one supported by the display device. Additionally, interconnect may be tested by estimating noise levels generated by the interconnect to a network connection and/or by estimating network throughput both when video is driven over the interconnect and when it is not.

  • Patent number: 10303252
Abstract: An electronic device has a home button that is available in a plurality of different contexts to dismiss user interfaces in response a first type of input. The device detects a first input of the first type directed to a displayed first user interface. In response, the device determines whether user interface tactile outputs are enabled. If so, the device performs a first operation and provides a corresponding first tactile output. If not, the device performs the first operation and forgoes providing at least a portion of the corresponding first tactile output. After performing the first operation, the device detects a second input of the first type on the home button. In response, the device performs a second operation that is associated with the home button and provides tactile output that is associated with activation of the home button, regardless of whether user interface tactile outputs are enabled.

  • Patent number: 10306729
Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a display having a backlight with light sources of different colors. The electronic device may include a color ambient light sensor that measures the color of ambient light and control circuitry that adjusts the color of light emitted from the backlight based on the color of ambient light. The light sources may include at least first and second light-emitting diodes that emit light having different color temperatures. The control circuitry may adjust the intensity of light emitted from the first light-emitting diode relative to the intensity of light emitted from the second light-emitting diode to produce a backlight color that more closely matches the color of ambient light. The first and second light-emitting diodes may include an ultraviolet light-emitting diode die and a blue light-emitting diode die that are mounted in a common semiconductor package.
