Patent number: 12259252Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide several novel methods for generating a navigation presentation that displays a device navigating a route on a map. The method of some embodiments uses a virtual camera that, based on detected changes in the navigation context, dynamically modifies the way it captures portions of the map to produce different navigation scenes in the navigation presentation. To generate the navigation scenes, the method of some embodiments (1) identifies different sets of attributes that describe the different navigation contexts at different times during the navigation presentation, and (2) uses these different sets of attributes to identify different styles for operating the virtual camera. In some embodiments, the method uses an identified style to specify the virtual camera's positional attributes, which, in turn, define the portions of the map that the virtual camera identifies for rendering to produce several navigation scenes for a period of time (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2022Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Justin M. Patent number: 12259978Abstract: Aspects and features include a structure for a program directed to a target computing device and metadata that can be used by a verifier in the target computing device. The verifier can quickly and efficiently apply verification rules to identified sections of the program to determine whether the program is safe to execute by the target computing device. In some examples, the target computing device uses the verifier to identify, using the metadata, verifiable sections of instructions that violate execution safety policies. The verifier can apply verification rules to the verifiable sections to determine whether to execute each verifiable section despite instructions in the verifiable section violating execution safety policies. The program and the metadata can be generated, as an example, by a compiler from source code, and transmitted or otherwise distributed to target computing devices.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2022Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Filip J. Patent number: 12259697Abstract: Modifications made by multiple controller devices to an environment model describing a shared automated environment can be coordinated. One of the controller devices can be designated as a coordinator, and any controller device other than the coordinator can send an update request to the coordinator. The coordinator can determine whether to accept or reject the requested modification and can report its determination to the requesting controller device. If the coordinator accepts the request, the coordinator can instigate operations to update the environment model across all controller devices of all users. If the coordinator rejects the request, the environment model is not updated. The controller device that made the request can update its local copy of the environment model and roll back the update if the request is rejected.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2021Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Matthew C. Patent number: 12262197Abstract: The subject disclosure provides systems and methods for sender verification for encrypted electronic messaging. The discloses systems and methods may facilitate reducing or preventing spam messages between electronic devices. An electronic device may determine, prior to sending an electronic message to another device with a first level of encryption that is higher than a second level of encryption, whether the electronic device is eligible to send the message with the first level of encryption. If an electronic device determines that it is ineligible to send the message with the first level of encryption to another electronic device, a first message from the electronic device to the other electronic device may be sent with the second level of encryption as part of an unencrypted or low encryption handshake between the devices.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2021Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Elliot A. Publication number: 20250094567Abstract: In an embodiment, a processor includes hardware circuitry which may be used to authenticate instruction operands. The processor may execute instructions that perform operand authentication both speculatively and non-speculatively. During speculative execution of such instructions, the processor may execute authentication such that no differences in observable state of the processor, relative to authentication result, are detectable via a side channel. During speculative execution, a result of authentication may be deferred until speculative execution of the instruction, and additional instructions, may be completed. Upon resolution of a condition that indicates acceptance of the speculative execution, a speculative execution result may cause a processor exception and stalling of execution at the instruction to be performed.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2023Publication date: March 20, 2025Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: John D Pape, Deepankar Duggal, Christopher M Tsay, Andrew H Lin, Corey C Stappenbeck

Publication number: 20250093926Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing a dynamic power estimation (DPE) unit that adapts weights in real-time are described. A system includes a processor, a DPE unit, and a power management unit (PMU). The DPE unit generates a power consumption estimate for the processor by multiplying a plurality of weights by a plurality of counter values, with each weight multiplied by a corresponding counter. The DPE unit calculates the sum of the products of the plurality of weights and plurality of counters. The accumulated sum is used as an estimate of the processor's power consumption. On a periodic basis, the estimate is compared to a current sense value to measure the error. If the error is greater than a threshold, then an on-chip learning algorithm dynamically adjust the weights. The PMU uses the power consumption estimates to keep the processor within a thermal envelope.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2024Publication date: March 20, 2025Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Laurent F.
