  • Patent number: 11595559
Abstract: Aspects of the subject technology relate to a tamper-resistant indicator of recording by a camera. Electronic devices are disclosed that include a camera, an indicator light for the camera, and a light sensor. The light sensor is disposed proximate to the indicator light so that blocking or masking the indicator light also prevents light from reaching the light sensor. In this way, the light sensor can be used to detect tampering with, masking, blocking, destroying, or otherwise preventing the indicator light from indicating when the camera is recording.

  • Patent number: 11592889
Abstract: A system includes a plurality of systems-on-a-chip (SoCs), connected by a network. The plurality of SoCs and the network are configured to operate as a single logical computing system. The plurality of SoCs may be configured to exchange local power information indicative of network activity occurring on their respective portions of the network. A given one of the plurality of SoCs may be configured to determine that a local condition for placing the respective portion of the network corresponding to the given SoC into a reduced power mode has been satisfied. The given SoC may be further configured to place the respective portion of the network into the reduced power mode in response to determining that a global condition for the reduced power mode is satisfied. The global condition may be assessed based upon current local power information for remaining ones of the plurality of SoCs.

  • Patent number: 11593628
Abstract: Embodiments relate to an electronic device that includes a neural processor having multiple neural engine circuits that operate in multiple modes of different bit width. A neural engine circuit may include a first multiply circuit and a second multiply circuit. The first and second multiply circuits may be combined to work as a part of a combined computation circuit. In a first mode, the first multiply circuit generates first output data of a first bit width by multiplying first input data with a first kernel coefficient. The second multiply circuit generates second output data of the first bit width by multiplying second input data with a second kernel coefficient. In a second mode, the combined computation circuit generates third output data of a second bit width by multiplying third input data with a third kernel coefficient.

  • Patent number: 11594199
Abstract: An electronic device such as a cellular telephone or other device may have a housing with front and rear faces joined by a sidewall. A display may be mounted on the front face. The electronic device may include multiple ambient light sensors such as a front ambient light sensor on the front face and one or more supplemental ambient light sensors on the rear face and/or on the sidewall. The front ambient light sensor gathers a front ambient light intensity measurement and the supplemental ambient light sensor gathers a supplemental ambient light intensity measurement. During operation, control circuitry in the electronic device adjusts the display brightness based on data from the ambient light sensors. The control circuitry may implement power saving restrictions that limit when the supplemental ambient light intensity measurement is taken into account and/or that impose a brightness cap on the display brightness.

  • Patent number: 11592959
Abstract: An electronic device displays one or more thumbnails. The device detects a first multi-contact gesture that includes movement of a first contact and a second contact; and, in response to detecting the first multi-contact gesture, the device displays content associated with a respective thumbnail and enlarges the content associated with the respective thumbnail to a respective enlarged size in accordance with the first multi-contact gesture. The device detects termination of the first multi-contact gesture; and, in response to detecting termination of the first multi-contact gesture: when a resizing metric based on the first multi-contact gesture is below a predefined threshold, the device ceases to display the content at the respective enlarged size; and, when the resizing metric based on the first multi contact gesture is above the predefined threshold, the device displays the content on the display in a predefined arrangement.

  • Patent number: 11589805
Abstract: In some implementations, a mobile device can adjust an alarm setting based on the sleep onset latency duration detected for a user of the mobile device. For example, sleep onset latency can be the amount of time it takes for the user to fall asleep after the user attempts to go to sleep (e.g., goes to bed). The mobile device can determine when the user intends or attempts to go to sleep based on detected sleep ritual activities. Sleep ritual activities can include those activities a user performs in preparation for sleep. The mobile device can determine when the user is asleep based on detected sleep signals (e.g., biometric data, sounds, etc.). In some implementations, the mobile device can determine recurring patterns of long or short sleep onset latency and present suggestions that might help the user sleep better or feel more rested.

  • Patent number: 11595230
Abstract: Embodiments relate to including information in a data packet transmitted by a transmitting integrated circuit (e.g., SOC) to account for a time delay associated with an unsuccessful arbitration attempt to send the data packet over a multi-drop bus. The unsuccessful arbitration attempt by the integrated circuit may delay the transmission of the data packet until the multi-drop bus becomes available for the integrated circuit to send the data packet. The data packet includes a data field to include time delay information caused by the unsuccessful arbitration attempt. A receiving integrated circuit may determine the time that the data packet would have been sent out from the transmitting integrated circuit absent the unsuccessful arbitration attempt based on the delay information. Embodiments also relate to a synchronization generator circuit in an integrated circuit that generates timing signals indicating times at which periodic events occur at another integrated circuit.
