  • Patent number: 10649889
Abstract: According to one embodiment, it is determined whether data stored in a compressor pool exceeds a first predetermined threshold, the compressor pool being a fixed-size memory pool maintained in a kernel of an operating system. The compressor pool stores a plurality of compressed memory pages, each memory page storing compressed data pages that can be paged out to or paged in from a persistent storage device. The compressed memory pages are associated with a plurality of processes. A memory consumption reduction action is performed to reduce memory usage, including terminating at least one of the processes to reclaim a memory space occupied by the process, in response to determining that the data stored in the compressor pool exceeds the first predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 10650540
Abstract: An estimate of distance between a user and a camera on a device is used to determine an illumination pattern density used for speckle pattern illumination of the user in subsequent images. The distance may be estimated using an image captured when the user is illuminated with flood infrared illumination. Either a sparse speckle (dot) pattern illumination pattern or a dense speckle pattern illumination pattern is used depending on the distance between the user's face and the camera.

  • Patent number: 10652687
Abstract: A presence of a person within a camera field of view of an electronic device is determined by digitally processing images captured by a camera. A position of a body member of the person with respect to the electronic device is also computed by digitally processing the camera captured images. A crosstalk cancellation (XTC) signal is adjusted based on the computed position of the body member. Adjusting the XTC signal includes adjusting a first predetermined model location, which includes a location at which a user should be in order to achieve a desired virtual acoustics effect. Processing program audio based on the adjusted XTC signal, to generate audio signals that drive speakers. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10651670
Abstract: An electronic device may transfer power wirelessly to an external device. The electronic device may include a housing having a cavity. A cover layer may be formed over the cavity. An array of antennas may be formed within the cavity. Antennas in the array may transfer wireless charging signals to the external device through the cover layer to charge the external device while the external device is in contact with the cover layer. Impedance detection circuitry may gather impedance matching information from each antenna in the array. Control circuitry may select an antenna having a best impedance match with the external device for transmitting the wireless charging signals. One or more antennas in the array may form a block filter for the selected antenna. Multiple near-field coupled antennas in the array may be selected for transmitting the charging signals to focus the charging signals on the external device.

  • Patent number: 10652925
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to support channel access control for keyless vehicle entry systems are disclosed. An initiating central wireless device of a wireless personal area network (WPAN) queries multiple responding peripheral wireless devices to perform ranging for distance and/or angle of arrival data, where the multiple peripheral wireless devices coordinate responses to minimize interference, avoid overlapping transmissions, and reduce time to complete ranging. Ranging frames are divided into multiple ranging time slots, where each ranging time slot can accommodate a full ranging cycle between the central and peripheral wireless devices. The central wireless device determines which ranging time slot to use based on estimates of communication channel interference and on a number of received responses from the peripheral wireless devices. Ranging measurements are provided to a controller of a vehicle that houses the peripheral wireless devices to determine whether to permit vehicle access.

  • Patent number: 10652736
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for establishing a secured session with backward security between a first device and a second device. In some embodiments, the method establishes a communication session between the first and second devices using shared keys stored at the first and second devices. The method exchanges encrypted data between the first and second devices as a part of the communication session. The method, upon completion of the communication session, modifies the shared key at the first device in a predictable way. The shared key is modified at the second device in the same predictable way. The method then stores the modified shared key at the first device. The modified shared key cannot be used to decrypt any portion of the encrypted data of the current and previous communication sessions.

  • Patent number: 10652583
Abstract: A hybrid compression method for compressing images is provided. The method identifies a first set of image components to be compressed by a lossy compression format and a second set of image components to be compressed by a lossless compression format. The method then encodes the first set of image components according to the lossy compression format and encodes the second set of image components according to the lossless compression format. The method then generates a compressed structure that includes the lossy-compressed first set of image components and the lossless-compressed second set of image components.
