  • Patent number: 10652925
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to support channel access control for keyless vehicle entry systems are disclosed. An initiating central wireless device of a wireless personal area network (WPAN) queries multiple responding peripheral wireless devices to perform ranging for distance and/or angle of arrival data, where the multiple peripheral wireless devices coordinate responses to minimize interference, avoid overlapping transmissions, and reduce time to complete ranging. Ranging frames are divided into multiple ranging time slots, where each ranging time slot can accommodate a full ranging cycle between the central and peripheral wireless devices. The central wireless device determines which ranging time slot to use based on estimates of communication channel interference and on a number of received responses from the peripheral wireless devices. Ranging measurements are provided to a controller of a vehicle that houses the peripheral wireless devices to determine whether to permit vehicle access.

  • Patent number: 10650540
Abstract: An estimate of distance between a user and a camera on a device is used to determine an illumination pattern density used for speckle pattern illumination of the user in subsequent images. The distance may be estimated using an image captured when the user is illuminated with flood infrared illumination. Either a sparse speckle (dot) pattern illumination pattern or a dense speckle pattern illumination pattern is used depending on the distance between the user's face and the camera.

  • Patent number: 10652736
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for establishing a secured session with backward security between a first device and a second device. In some embodiments, the method establishes a communication session between the first and second devices using shared keys stored at the first and second devices. The method exchanges encrypted data between the first and second devices as a part of the communication session. The method, upon completion of the communication session, modifies the shared key at the first device in a predictable way. The shared key is modified at the second device in the same predictable way. The method then stores the modified shared key at the first device. The modified shared key cannot be used to decrypt any portion of the encrypted data of the current and previous communication sessions.

  • Patent number: 10652788
Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for a link budget limited UE to improve communications performance with a cellular network. The UE may perform signal to interference noise ratio (SINR) measurements and use these measurements to adjust a received signal power value that is provided to the cellular network as a received signal power measurement. The UE may generate the received signal power value based at least in part on the SINR measurement in order to reduce the likelihood of handover when the UE has good SINR but poor received signal power. The UE may also provide preferred configuration information to the base station which enhances the performance of the UE when link budget limited. The configuration information may specify one or more parameter values designed to provide improved performance for a link budget limited device.

  • Patent number: 10652578
Abstract: Image processing techniques may accelerate coding of viewport data contained within multi-view image data. According to such techniques, an encoder may shifting content of a multi-directional image data according to the viewport location data provided by a decoder. The encoder may code the shifted multi-directional image data by predictive coding, and transmit to the decoder, the coded multi-directional image data and data identifying an amount of the shift. Doing so may move the viewport location to positions in the image data that are coded earlier than the positions that the viewport location naturally occupies and, thereby, may accelerate coding. On decode, a decoder may compare its present viewport location with viewport location data provided by the encoder with coded video data. The decoder may decode the coded video data and extract a portion of the decoded video data corresponding to a present viewport location for display.

  • Patent number: 10652786
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing 5G access for a UE are generally described. The UE is simultaneously connected via dual radio operation to a legacy and 5G access system. The UE mobility management states for the access systems are independent of each other. The EPC and 5G CN share an HSS and may share a IP anchor. When handover occurs between access systems, the IP address is retained and the IP anchor used when the UE transmits an Attach Request having a Handover Attach Request Type and otherwise a new IP address is provided and the HSS but not the IP anchor is common between the access systems. The 5G eNB to which the UE is connected is standalone and connected to the 5G CN or dual mode and connected with an EPC via an LTE anchor in addition to the 5G CN.

  • Patent number: 10652567
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for coding and decoding video data using object recognition and object modeling as a basis of coding and error recovery. A video decoder may decode coded video data received from a channel. The video decoder may perform object recognition on decoded video data obtained therefrom, and, when an object is recognized in the decoded video data, the video decoder may generate a model representing the recognized object. It may store data representing the model locally. The video decoder may communicate the model data to an encoder, which may form a basis of error mitigation and recovery. The video decoder also may monitor deviation patterns in the object model and associated patterns in audio content; if/when video decoding is suspended due to operational errors, the video decoder may generate simulated video data by analyzing audio data received during the suspension period and developing video data from the data model and deviation(s) associated with patterns detected from the audio data.

  • Patent number: 10652646
Abstract: A user content audio signal is converted into sound that is delivered into an ear canal of a wearer of an in-ear speaker, while the in-ear speaker is sealing off the ear canal against ambient sound leakage. An acoustic or venting valve in the in-ear speaker is automatically signaled to open, so that sound inside the ear canal is allowed to travel out into an ambient environment through the valve, while activating conversion of an ambient content audio signal into sound for delivery into the ear canal. Both user content and ambient content are heard by the wearer. The ambient content audio signal is digitally processed so that certain frequency components have been gain adjusted, based on an equalization profile, so as to compensate for some of the insertion loss that is due to the in-ear speaker blocking the ear canal. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
