  • Patent number: 12166495
Abstract: The current disclosure is related to digital-to-analog converters (DACs) with localized frequency multiplication circuits. For example, an electronic device may include a local oscillator (LO) providing clock signals, a digital front-end providing digital signals, a DAC, (e.g., a radio frequency DAC (RFDAC)), and one or more antennas. The DAC may include a number of cells (e.g., unit power amplifiers). Moreover, each cell may provide a unit power analog signal upon activation with a higher frequency than the received digital signals and clock signals. The DAC may provide an output signal (e.g., an analog signal) based on combining (e.g., aggregating) the unit power analog signals of the activated cells for transmission by the one or more antennas.

  • Patent number: 12167390
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for multiplexing of uplink control information on uplink data channels in wireless communication. It may be determined that transmission of a plurality of physical uplink shared channels (PUSCHs) are scheduled. The transmission of the plurality of PUSCHs may overlap with transmission of an uplink control information (UCI). At most one of the plurality of PUSCHs on to which the UCI is multiplexed may be determined based on a Downlink Assignment Index (DAI) value. The plurality of PUSCHs may be set with no more than one PUSCH having the DAI value not equal to four. Thereafter, the determined PUSCH is transmitted with the UCI multiplexed on it.

  • Patent number: 12166915
Abstract: A processor-based personal electronic device (such as a smartphone) is programmed to automatically respond to data sent by various sensors from which the user's activity may be inferred. One or more alarms on the device may be temporarily disabled when sensor data indicates that the user is asleep. One or more of the sensors may be worn by the user and remote from the device. A wireless communication link may be used by the device to obtain remote sensor data. Data from on-board sensors in the device—such as motion sensors, location sensors, ambient light sensors, and the like—may also be used to deduce the user's current activity. User data (such as calendar entries) may also be used to determine likely user activity and set alarms accordingly. Biometric data from a second, nearby person may also be used to automatically select certain alarm modes on a first person's device.

  • Patent number: 12166563
Abstract: Methods, devices, and apparatus to adapt operating parameters for satellite signal reception and transmission by a wireless device to mitigate effects of fading due to specular reflections are described herein. The wireless device measures received signal power levels and compares characteristics of the measurements over an observation duration to at least one fading criteria to determine whether to operate in a normal or adaptive mode. While operating in the adaptive mode, the wireless device alternates between high performance mode time periods and low performance mode time periods. The wireless device indicates to a ground station associated with the satellite in which operating mode the wireless device is operating via an uplink data message transmitted during a data cycle at the start of a high or low performance mode time period. The ground station schedules data transmissions accordingly during subsequent data cycles of the high or low performance mode time periods.

  • Patent number: 12165262
Abstract: Redirected walking methods are described that may be implemented in virtual reality (VR) systems for guiding or redirecting users' movements within constrained physical environments or in unconstrained physical environments, while the users perceive that they are freely moving about within virtual worlds provided by the VR systems. The methods may involve rendering views of a VR world based at least in part on a user's movements in the real environment, adjusting the views according to the user's position and movements with respect to objects in and boundaries of the real environment, and displaying the adjusted views to the user. In response to visual cues introduced by the methods, the user may adjust their path in the real world environment. For example, a rotation of the VR environment introduced by a shift of one or more views may cause the user to turn in a direction opposite to the rotation.

  • Patent number: 12164027
Abstract: Disclosed herein are electronic devices, detectors, systems, and methods for estimating a distance to an exterior object. Light pulses from an emitter on the electronic device or detector are received by at least one pair of light detectors positioned at different distances from the emitter. One or more ratios of strengths of signals of the light detectors are used to determine the object's distance. The ratios may be compared to a proximity curve to obtain the object's distance. If the ratio exceeds a critical distance value, a determination may be made that the exterior object has been separated from the electronic device. Wearable electronic devices, such as smart watches, may use the detectors, systems, and methods to determine if a user is wearing the electronic device.
