Patent number: 5984991Abstract: A high-efficiency air filtering apparatus for cleaning and circulating air in a closed room is in the shape of a vertical cylinder and includes a semi-cylindrical housing and a semi-cylindrical filtering chamber, both enclosing a centrifugal blower configured to suck filtered air out of the apparatus through the filter and to blow it into the room. The apparatus is characterized by that the filtering chamber contains a closely pleated filter sheet of HEPA-filter which is covered on top and bottom by flat panels and is air-tightly pressed onto the semi-cylindrical housing, thus making the apparatus completely air tight. The filtering chamber is urged onto the contour of the filtering chamber and is releasably fastened to the top and bottom of the housing, permitting replacement of the filter after clogging.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1998Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignee: Appliance Development Corp.Inventor: Dov Z. Glucksman

Patent number: 5835680Abstract: An apparatus for heating water is provided having a water receptacle including a bottom wall and side walls for containing a volume of water therein to be heated. The bottom wall of the receptacle has an exterior surface and an interior surface proximate the volume of water to be heated. The water is heated by a heater contained within the water receptacle and secured to the interior surface of the bottom wall of the receptacle by a securement pin which extends through the bottom wall and is threadably engaged with the heater. The heater is elevated from the interior surface of the water receptacle by a collar of high insulation material which is received within a peripheral groove portion of the heater such that the tightening of the securement pin compresses the rubber collar to create a seal between the heater and the bottom wall of the water receptacle.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1996Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Appliance Development Corp.Inventors: Dov Glucksman, Karl H. Weidemann

Patent number: 5619612Abstract: A motor is located in the air inlet area is enclosed in a shock proof housing. The housing is of a cylindrical configuration, comprising a solid rear wall and a front wall which contains air inlet openings small enough to prevent access to the live electrical parts, the enclosure is further provided with a circumferential air outlet positioned between the front and rear walls. A motor is located in the air inlet area to facilitate its cooling by the entering air. A centrifugal blower impeller is mounted on the blower shaft, with its inlet coinciding with the inlet opening. The impeller is surrounded by a cage shaped heating element consisting of a multitude of inter connected strips of a resistance alloy, which are supported on two plastic rings. The circumferential air outlet is provided with a multitude of guide vanes that help direct and diffuse the air emanating from the heating elements while preventing contact with the heating element from the outside.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1994Date of Patent: April 8, 1997Assignee: Appliance Development Corp.Inventors: Dov Z.
