Patents Assigned to Aqua Lung America, Inc.
  • Patent number: 9021718
Abstract: A boot assembly for use with a dry suit includes an external puncture resistant boot and a dual-layered insert. The dual-layered insert comprises a thermal sock worn over the foot of a diver and a water-proof, non-stretch over-sized outer sock worn over the thermal sock. The outer sock is over-sized so that it accommodates a wide spectrum of diver foot sizes but fits comfortably within the volume of the external boot.

  • Publication number: 20140158120
Abstract: A snorkel adapter apparatus is disclosed. The snorkel adapter apparatus includes a snorkel tube, a float, a mouthpiece, and a single pivot point. These pieces combined together create a snorkel breathing apparatus that allows the user to submerge the snorkel in water and prevent water from entering the snorkel tube and mouthpiece. When the snorkel is submerged in water, the float rotates around a coupler attached to the pivot attachment point and closes the open end of the snorkel tube. The buoyancy of the float in the water causes it to rotate and seal the snorkel tube closed.

  • Patent number: 8157479
Abstract: A buoyancy adjustment device utilizes an inflation valve connected between the diver's breathing gas supply and a compartment to admit gas into the compartment to increase the diver's buoyancy. An exhaust valve connects between the compartment and the outside of the vest, to release gas from the compartment to the surrounding environment to decrease the diver's buoyancy. A hand-operated controller connected to the inflation valve, when caused to move from a neutral position to an inflation position, actuates the inflation valve and admits gas to the compartment. The hand-operated controller is also connected to the exhaust valve via a flexible pushrod so that, when caused to move from the neutral position to an exhaust position, actuates the exhaust valve and releases gas from the compartment. The flexible push rod is housed in a sleeve that is totally contained within the compartment.

  • Publication number: 20080308107
Abstract: A diver's mask strap snorkel tube holder is disclosed. The snorkel tube holder includes at least one element, a passage with first and second passage openings, and a slot. These pieces combined together create a snorkel tube holder that provides a soft pad underneath the mask strap for the diver's comfort, prevents the diver's hair from being grabbed and pulled, holds the snorkel tube in the optimum position just forward of the diver's ear, quickly and easily attaches the snorkel to the mask, and stabilizes the snorkel tube. The diver's mask strap is threaded through the first passage opening and exits through the second passage opening. The slot is positioned at an acute angle relative to the second passage opening and releasably secures the snorkel tube to the diver's mask.

  • Patent number: 7172480
Abstract: A new swim flipper with a unique blade design is provided. The new swim flipper has a unique joint system portion positioned on the blade of the swim flipper. The new swim flipper will have a joint system portion that has a new combination of materials such as a solid core and a rubber covering that may flex about the joint. The swim flipper eases the pressure on bio-mechanical movement of the ankle, increases the amount of thrust produced by kicking movement of the user. The swim flipper allows the user to expend less energy in attempting to provide adequate thrust to propel the individual through water by using the joint system to adequately produce enough flexibility to propel the individual without excessive force being used.

  • Patent number: 6742287
Abstract: A water purging system for a flexible diving boot, including a first layer of flexible material located adjacent the interior of the boot in contact with the foot of the diver. The first layer of flexible material having at least one first aperture for passing a volume of water away from a diver's foot, outward through the material. A second layer of material is located on the opposite side of the first layer from the interior of the boot. The second layer has at least one second aperture for passing a volume of water from one side of the layer to the other side of the layer. The apertures prevent an influx of water into the boot when the diver's boot is in the water. The boot allows outflow of water from the boot, when the diver exits the water and either walks about on a solid deck or places the boot in a heel-down position against a supporting surface.
