Patent number: 6179228Abstract: A water fountain spray modifier for use in combination with a pond aerator to modify the water fountain spray pattern generated by the pond aerator. The water fountain spray modifier includes a support arm pivotally mounted between a pair of brackets mounted to the pond aerator. The support arm includes a spray diffuser formed on its first end and is movable between an operative position and an inoperative position. When the support arm is in the operative position, the spray diffuser is generally aligned with the outlet opening of the pond aerator such that the spray diffuser reduces the height of the water fountain produced by the pond aerator. The water fountain spray modifier includes a locking mechanism that secures the support arm and attached spray diffuser in either the operative position or the inoperative position. The locking mechanism includes a plunger movable between a retracted position and an extended position.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1999Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: AquamasterInventors: Dennis L. Patent number: 5679045Abstract: An arrangement for transferring electric current to a propulsion device provided with an electric motor in a ship or equivalent. The propulsion device is rotatably mounted on the ship's hull rotatable in relation to a substantially vertical axis of rotation. At the lower end of the vertical frame of the propulsion device, a lower housing is mounted in which the electric motor is arranged to drive a propeller which revolves around a substantially horizontal shaft of rotation. The current transfer arrangement includes a stationary conductor member mounted stationarily in relation to the hull of the ship and a mobile conductor member installed on the vertical frame of the propulsion device. The stationary conductor member and the moving conductor member are one of an annular part and a part of circular section arranged inside the annular part, preferably coaxially with the annular part, so that an annular intermediate space is defined between the stationary conductor member and the mobile conductor member.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1995Date of Patent: October 21, 1997Assignee: Aquamaster-Rauma Ltd.Inventor: Aarno Niemi

Patent number: 5609120Abstract: A traction arrangement for a tug boat having a towing winch mounted on the aft and/or fore deck and a tow rope connected to the winch and connectable to a vessel being assisted for necessary measures, such as towing, arresting, steering and equivalent. In order to enhance the stability of the tug boat and the towing, steering, arresting and equivalent properties achieved with the tug boat for the vessel to be assisted, the traction arrangement includes a tow arc mounted essentially in a plane of the deck within an area defined with a transverse bulwark in the front part of the front deck of the tug boat or in the rear part of the aft deck. To be mobile along the tow arc, a towing eyelet is arranged, and through which the tow rope from the towing winch passes to the vessel to be assisted. Traction power is transmitted to the tug boat, and which towing eyelet is on each occasion arranged to be positioned according to the towing angle.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1995Date of Patent: March 11, 1997Assignee: Aquamaster-Rauma Ltd.Inventor: Harri K. Patent number: 5575230Abstract: A tug boat for escort towing and/or harbor use having a towing winch positioned at least on the forecastle. While in escort towing, the tug is intended to improve the steering and arresting properties of a vessel to be assisted by means of a tow rope emitted from the towing winch and connected to the vessel being assisted. In harbor use, the tug boat is applied for ordinary towing and buffer tasks. In order to improve the stability of the tug boat and the towing, steering, arresting and equivalent properties provided with the tug boat in the vessel being assisted, a towing eyelet, through which the traction force of the tow rope connected from the towing winch of the forecastle to the vessel being assisted is transmitted to the tug boat, is positioned depending on the towing angle and in proximity of the deck plane or in the deck plane.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1995Date of Patent: November 19, 1996Assignee: Aquamaster-Rauma Ltd.Inventor: Harri K. Patent number: 4973275Abstract: Method and arrangement for the reduction of the resistance to rotation of the propeller (3) of a ship (1) going in ice when the ice increases the resistance to rotation of the propeller to a level higher than when sailing in open water. When the resistance to rotation increases, gas is passed to the propeller (3), and the supply of gas is adjusted when the resistance to rotation is changed. The supply of gas may be continual, but as a rule it is used only for short periods in order to correct the speed of rotation of the propeller to the appropriate level.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1989Date of Patent: November 27, 1990Assignee: Aquamaster-Rauma OyInventors: Antti K.
