Abstract: The invention mainly relates to a process for recycling blast furnace gas in which at least one portion of the gases resulting from the blast furnace undergo a CO2 purification step so as to create a CO-rich gas which is reinjected at a first top injection point located above the base of the blast furnace at a temperature between 700° C. and 1000° C. through a top injection line, and at a second bottom injection point at the base of the blast furnace at a temperature between 1000° C. and 1300° C. through a bottom injection line, in which the gases from the bottom and top injection lines are heated by means of heaters from which the gases emerge at a temperature between 1000° C. and 1300° C. The process of the invention is essentially characterized in that a portion of the CO-rich gas (18) exiting the purification step is directly introduced into the top injection line (21) via a cold gas injection line (35) in order to obtain a temperature between 700° C. and 1000° C.

Abstract: A fire resistant steel structure (10) comprises a steel beam (14) for receiving a vertical load and a support structure for supporting the horizontal beam (14) at two horizontally spaced locations. At least one fire-resistant tension member (30) has its ends (32, 32?) anchored outside the steel beam (14) in the support structure. It is arranged relative to the steel beam (14) in such a way that when the steel beam (14) is overheated and yields under the vertical load in case of severe fire conditions, it rests on the at least one fire-resistant tension member (30) and is vertically supported by the latter.

  • Publication number: 20110308672
Abstract: A heat treatment or heat soak furnace for use in both galvannealing and galvanizing processes including a heating apparatus configured to supply heat and remove heat. The heating apparatus may draw hot air from the exhaust of a direct fire strip annealing furnace, gas burners or electric heat exchangers as necessary. The furnace also may include a plurality of cooling mechanisms in order to ensure heat is removed and the temperature within the furnace regulated. In addition, the furnace may include baffles configured to allow portions of the interior of the furnace to be separated into different temperature zones.

  • Patent number: 7611609
Abstract: A method for producing non-recovery/heat recovery coke may include the steps of providing a container, disposing a volume of loose coal into the container such that a vertical dimension of the volume of loose coal in the container is smaller than a horizontal dimension of the volume of loose coal, applying a force to the coal in the container to produce a volume of compacted coal having a substantially uniform density which is larger than that of the loose coal, disposing the compacted coal into a non-recovery/heat recovery type oven, and heating the compacted coal to produce coke. The method may also include the steps of providing a container, and moving the non-recovery/heat recovery coke mass from the oven at a substantially constant elevation to the container, quenching the coke mass in the container to produce a quenched coke mass, and removing the quenched coke mass from the container.
