  • Patent number: 11555366
Abstract: A drill pipe string conveyed retrievable plug system has a central through bore. The plug system includes a drill pipe string; a control section; a running tool with a connector at a lower end of a drill pipe string with the control section, and a top connector on a mechanical plug section with a bridge plug. The mechanical plug section includes a mandrel with the through bore, a ball valve arranged for closing the through bore, and a packer sleeve on the mandrel with slips and a packer element. The control section includes an electric supply, an electric control unit, and sensors connected to the electric control unit. The mechanical plug section includes a motor controlled by the electrical control unit. The motor is arranged to turn a selector ring to a selected first rotational position so as for allowing a piston sleeve to slide to an axial first stop position in order for opening to fluid channels through the mandrel from the through bore to the packer sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9970257
Abstract: A single trip method allows for perforation, cleaning the annular space around the perforations in an existing tubular and then delivering a sealing material through a combination tool that is used for cleaning and then sealing. For sealing the tool is positioned by the lowermost perforations with a bypass around spaced seals that straddle the outlet port for the sealant. There is an open bypass through the tool and around the spaced seals as the sealant is delivered so that the sealant goes above and below the spaced seals. The open bypass allows the tool to be repositioned as the sealant is delivered. The tool is removed with the string. A separate through passage is selectively opened for removing excess sealant in conjunction with the bypass passages. The sealant can be squeezed with a seal on the string to effectively close the bypass letting pressure through the through passage squeeze.

  • Publication number: 20160102523
Abstract: Cementing takes place after a hanger and seal are set to first insure the pressure integrity of the connection between the string to be cemented and the existing tubular. Cementing top down or bottom up is envisioned with either displaced fluid returning toward the surface in a crossover tool or with the displaced fluid squeezed into the formation. A work string manipulates the crossover for reversing out after cementing. For running in a valve assembly is held open to permit circulation. Work string manipulation allows at least one valve that keeps the cement in the annulus to close and at least one other valve to close that keeps the reverse fluid from leaving the cemented tubular to allow such flow to return to the crossover and out to the surface. Valve release can be done with a pressure responsive sleeve instead of a stinger on the running string.

  • Publication number: 20140224478
Abstract: A tool for locking and releasing a plug in a hydrocarbon well includes a sleeve having at least one pocket for receiving the plug's pin element, and at least one locking element which can be moved between a release position in which the pocket is open, and a locking position in which the pocket is closed. When locking the tool to the plug, the tool is moved in the hydrocarbon well to facilitate positioning of the pin element in abutment with the locking element, further movement bringing the locking element into an open position for receiving the pin element in the pocket, and the locking element is brought into a locking position such that the plug's pin element is locked in the pocket. When releasing the tool from the plug, fluid means are used for movement of the locking element into a release position.

  • Publication number: 20140209321
Abstract: A plug includes a slip actuator for setting and release of slips, and a locking element in contact with the slip actuator. The locking element includes multiple parts with internal threads which constitute an enclosure around threads of a pipe. On the radial outer surface of the locking element are provided resilient elements. When setting the plug, the locking element is capable of sliding over the pipe threads for movement of the slip actuator and setting of the slips, until the locking element comes into engagement with a locking sleeve, fixed relative to the pipe, which prevents rotation of the locking element. When releasing the plug, the locking element is released from the locking sleeve, and the locking element rotates off the pipe threads, and the slip actuator follows the movement of the locking element and releases the slips.
