A notch is provided in the body for receiving the bow string. A release member is pivotally mounted within the body and engageable with the sear to either prevent or allow pivotal movement of the sear. A trigger extends from the pivoting release member and extends outwardly through an opening in the body. A bow string is held in a notch in the head by opposed balls mounted in a bore transverse to the notch and held in contact by control pins carried by a collar axially slideable on the head. The pin is connected to the collar and is actuated by a trigger pivoted in the handle to move the collar and the control pins to let the balls move apart to release the string. Patent number: 4881516Abstract: The bow string release has a body with a string receiving notch in one end of the body and an axial hole through the other end of the body. A sear is pivoted adjacent the notch and is operative to retain a bow string in the notch. The handle has an axial hole therethrough. A guide sleeve is connected to the body and extends through the axial holes in the body and handle. An enlargement on the other end of the guide sleeve captures the handle relative to the guide sleeve. A spring acting between the guide sleeve and the handle takes up dimensional variations. A pull pin is slidably mounted in the guide sleeve for movement between a first position in which it engages the sear and a retracted position releasing the sear. A spring biases the pin to its first position. A trigger carried by the handle is operative to move the pin to its retracted position. Patent number: 4691683Abstract: The bow string release has a sear pivotally mounted in a cylindrical body and includes a string retaining finger which projects across the string receiving notch when the sear is engaged by a pull pin biased to the sear engaging position, the pull pin is slideable in a guide sleeve rotatably mounted in the end wall of the body to which it is coupled. A handle is rotatably mounted on said sleeve and carries a trigger through which the pull pin passes. When the trigger is actuated it rocks about its point of engagement with a washer to push another washer against an enlarged head on the end of the pin to pull the pin to release the sear. In one embodiment a screw in the handle and bearing on the trigger can be adjusted to "partly actuate" the trigger to adjust the stroke necessary to release the bow string. Patent number: 4597473Abstract: The tree stand has a notch which receives a tree trunk and has a flexible steel band encircling and engaging the tree. The band is positioned at an angle extending upwardly and rearwardly from the platform. The band is supported by means at each side of the platform including front and rear legs pivoted on the platform and slideably interconnected. When the legs are raised from their storage position against the platform, they are automatically locked together when they reach their operative position. One leg carries a guide which receives the band. A cylindrical member fixed on the guide supports a plunger which is biased to engage holes in the band. A cam-type actuator bears against the cylindrical member and is moved relative to the plunger between a lock position (plunger engaging the band) and a retracted position (plunger withdrawn from the band).
