  • Patent number: 4222453
Abstract: An improved rear suspension for a snowmobile. The improved rear suspension includes a first link and a second link, each having a first end and a second end. An extensible, shock mounted link also has a first end and a second end. The first and second links are non-pivotal relative to each other. A first pivot is defined on the snowmobile frame, a second pivot is defined on the snowmobile frame rearwardly of the first pivot, and a third pivot is spaced downwardly of the first and second pivots. A fourth pivot is movably located relative to the first, second and third pivots. The first ends of the first and second links are pivotally carried by the first pivot, the second end of the first link is pivotally carried by the third pivot, the second end of the extensible link is pivotally carried by the second pivot, and the second end of the second link and the first end of the extensible link are pivotally connected together at the fourth pivot.

  • Patent number: 4217006
Abstract: A track or drive belt assembly primarily for use with snowmobiles. The drive belt assembly includes a unitarily formed, continuous or endless, flexible drive belt having an inner side and an outer ground engaging side. The unitary drive belt assembly includes a central endless section and a pair of laterally spaced endless side sections. A plurality of longitudinally spaced members unitarily interconnect the side sections to the central belt section. A plurality of unitary drive lugs project inwardly from the inner side of each of the belt sections and selected lugs are located proximate to the unitary interconnecting members. A plurality of rigid members are connected to the drive belt. Each rigid member has a first section that is fixed to the one interconnecting member and a second or offset section which is in supporting and cooperative relationship with each of the selected lug members.

  • Patent number: 4040693
Abstract: A multi-purpose galley assembly for use on boats, recreational vehicles, trailers, camper trailers, and the like. The galley assembly has an upright base with cabinets below and a kitchen unit, including a stove and range in the upper portion thereof. A pair of seats are hingedly mounted on the lateral outer edges of the upright base. The seats substantially cover said sink and said range, and the back portions of the seats are in back to back relationship, while the assembly is in the first position. The seats may be pivoted outwardly and downwardly in such a way that the seat portions of the seats define work surfaces which are positioned laterally of the kitchen unit while the back portions support the seat portions in the substantially horizontal position when the seat portions are being used as work surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3986406
Abstract: A variable speed drive clutch of the type including a drive shaft, a driven or output shaft, a drive sheave on the drive shaft, a driven sheave on the driven shaft, and a drive belt for drivably interconnecting the drive sheave to the driven sheave. The drive sheave includes a fixed half and an axially slideable half. The slideable half defines a housing in which a support or spider for supporting flyweights is mounted. The flyweights move radially outward and inwardly, from a given radius at any given instant, in response to increasing and decreasing rotating speeds, respectively, of the drive shaft. Cam rollers associated with the flyweights ride on cam surfaces on the slideable sheave half and cause the slideable sheave half to move axially away from the fixed sheave half, when the flyweights move radially inwardly, and towards the fixed sheave half when the flyweights move radially outwardly.

  • Patent number: 3971198
Abstract: An assembly for mounting on a power lawnmower for collecting grass clippings and the like in a disposable flexible container. The assembly includes a support for maintaining the flexible container in a substantially upright position with an open top and located rearwardly of the lawnmower housing. A cover is pivotally carried on the support and encloses the open top of the flexible container. The cover and the flexible container cooperate to define a substantially enclosed chamber. Spaced inlet and outlet openings are provided in the chamber. An inlet channel, extending upwardly and rearwardly from the mower housing, is connected to the inlet opening for discharging yard clippings into the flexible container. An exhaust assembly communicates with the outlet and the exterior. The opening faces in a direction away from the operator of the lawnmower.

  • Patent number: 3948361
Abstract: A parking brake mechanism for use on vehicles of the type normally using a hand-actuated brake, such as snowmobiles, motorcycles, bicycles and the like. Normally, the hand actuated brake is mounted on a handle bar assembly of the vehicle. The brake includes a lever adjacent a hand grip portion and is pivotally mounted thereon. The brake lever, when manually operated, moves from a brake disengaged position to a brake engaged position. The brake lever is normally biased to a brake disengaged position. A brake cable is normally operatively connected to the brake lever, at one of its ends, and at its other end, is operatively connected to a brake, the lever moving the cable from a brake disengaged position to a brake engaged position. The parking brake mechanism includes a U-shaped actuator member, straddling the hand grip portion, and is movably carried thereon.

  • Patent number: 3931861
Abstract: A snowmobile suspension system including a tread, a supporting frame for the tread, and front and rear suspension means suspending the frame beneath the body. The rear suspension means includes co-acting support arms and control levers permitting the relative movement between the frame and the body to exceed the movement between the support arm and frame, thus reducing the likelihood of the body striking, or "bottoming out", against the frame.

  • Patent number: 3930689
Abstract: A drive belt assembly for snowmobiles. The assembly includes an endless drive belt, which extends substantially across the entire width of the rear portion of the snowmobile, and is longitudinally and drivably supported on the snowmobile body. First and second sets of transversely and alternately positioned and spaced drive cleats are securely mounted on the outer surface of the drive belt. Each of the cleats has a first end portion which is adjacent one of the lateral edges of the belt, and a second end portion, which is spaced inwardly from the other edge of the drive belt. Surface portions are defined on the outer surface of the track longitudinally between each of the first end portions of one set of the drive cleats, and transversely between the second end portion of each of the other set of cleats, and the other edge of the drive belt. Flexible, unitary, lugs or projections extend from the outer surface portion.
