    Abstract: A template system and method for use in the installation of and framing for staircases is disclosed. The template system includes a plurality of staircase template pieces that can be assembled to produce a full-scale template of a staircase in plan view. If desired, a plurality of wall plates can be assembled in connection with the staircase templates to provide a full-scale template for framing the staircase. Balcony templates could also be used to provide a full-scale template for a balcony of the staircase.
