Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for charge-mode control. An embodiment of a charge mode controller may include an analog/digital converter configured to monitor the current through a duty cycle switch and convert the current to a switch current value; an accumulator module configured to integrate the switch current value during the switching cycle and output an accumulated charge value; and a comparator module responsive to the accumulated charge value and a charge set point configured to generate a gate drive signal for the duty cycle switch that turns the duty cycle switch ON when the accumulated charge value is less than the charge set point and turns the duty cycle switch OFF when the accumulated charge value reaches the charge set point and thereby controls the duty cycle of the converter and the power supplied by the power stage.
Abstract: A method for sorting flat mail pieces includes the steps of; sorting automation letters on the first pass of a two pass operation, then sorting extended capability letters after all automation mail has been sorted on pass one of a two pass operation. A control system identifies which pieces are automation and which pieces are extended capability (EC) mail during the first pass and re-feeding the mixed letters in a second pass.
Abstract: A container comprises a storage compartment and a lid. The storage compartment may be formed of plastic, and may include indicia of measuring. The lid may be removably attached to the storage compartment by a latching mechanism. The latching mechanism may be sturdy enough to contain the contents of the storage compartment, even when those contents are substantially heavy. The contents of the storage compartment may pass through an opening in the lid. The opening may be covered by a removably attached closure, and the closure may include indicia of measuring. The closure may thus be removed from the lid, and used as a measuring device. A scoop may be removably attached to the inside of the lid, may include indicia of measuring, and may be used as a measuring device.

Abstract: A method of making a composite support structure and sander includes the steps of providing a rigid plate adjacent a mold such that a polyfoam layer can be formed to a front surface thereof which includes a wall defining a contained surface, the plate having a back surface for connection to a handle and introducing into the mold fluid components which react to form a polyfoam which is reaction bonded to the front surface of the rigid plate such that a back surface of the polyfoam layer forms within the contained surface and about the wall in a complementary manner thereto and a front surface of the polyfoam layer extends outward from the front surface of the rigid plate and is formed to have a relatively planar surface thereby rendering the composite support structure for removably connecting sandpaper to the relatively planar surface of the polyfoam layer.
Abstract: A pivoting door assembly for a downdraft cutting table assembly includes a door for covering a vent of the downdraft cutting table assembly, and an arm assembly coupled to the door. The downdraft cutting table assembly may include a cutting table for supporting a workpiece, a cutting torch assembly for positioning a cutting torch for cutting the workpiece, an exhaust duct for exhausting fumes, and a vent opening into the exhaust duct. The downdraft cutting table assembly may also include a slag removal system. The arm assembly is actuated by the cutting torch assembly as the cutting torch assembly positions the cutting torch over the cutting table. Actuation of the arm assembly by the cutting torch assembly causes the arm assembly to pivot the door open for allowing fumes from the cutting torch to be drawn into the exhaust duct.

Abstract: An engageable coupling assembly having reduced spin losses and method of assembling such assembly within an automotive transmission to reduce such losses are provided. The assembly is adapted for use with pressurized fluid. The assembly includes first and second coupling members that are supported with respect to each other for relative rotation about a common rotational axis. The coupling members have a first pair of annular faces that oppose each other and define an annular space therebetween. A plate section is attached to the insert along peripheral edges of the plate section by a thin wall section to form a cover suitable for use with a main lug panelboard configuration. The thin wall section is sized relative to the plate section to enable separation of the plate section from the insert by a user to then form a cover suitable for use with a main breaker panelboard configuration.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to bushings produced with adapted dovetails for production on a carrying web of a progressive stamping machine at a plurality of stations. The bushing includes a regular shape male dovetail inserted into an irregular shape crenellated female opening at the conclusion of a plurality of operations at stations on a progressive stamping machine. Once the bushing is bent in shape, in a subsequent step, the regular shape male dovetail is punched to lock in place into the irregular shape crenellated female opening.

Abstract: A spider for use with a gyratory crusher. The spider includes spider arms each formed from two spaced flanges joined by a connecting web to define an open channel having an open top end. The configuration of the spider arms increases manufacturability and provides the required strength and rigidity for the spider. The channel formed in each spider arm is covered by a spider arm shield to reduce abrasive wear to the spider arm.

Abstract: The present invention provides a supported catalyst for synthesizing carbon nanotubes. The supported catalyst includes a metal catalyst supported on a supporting body, and the supported catalyst has a surface area of about 15 to about 100 m2/g. The supported catalyst for synthesizing carbon nanotubes according to the present invention can lower production costs by increasing surface area of a catalytic metal to thereby allow production of a large amount of carbon nanotubes using a small amount of the catalyst.
