  • Patent number: 6127656
Abstract: A portable electric soldering tool includes a housing forming a handle and a power head. A heating rod with a main and a secondary heating coil extends from the power head, the rod having an axial bore with a stainless steel lining to prevent solder from building up in the heating rod. A pump draws molten solder through the axial bore of the heating rod. A disposable solder collecting cartridge is removably mounted in the power head to collect solder drawn through the heating rod. The cartridge includes a barrel formed of a heat resistant plastic. Sealing gaskets are disposed at the open ends of the barrel, and a solder accumulator is disposed in the barrel to collect molten solder. The main and secondary heating coils are connected to a power switch. An electric motor for the pump is connected in series with the secondary heating coil. A selector switch energizes alternatively the main heating coil or the secondary heating coil and motor.

  • Patent number: 6123383
Abstract: An articulating window assembly for a motor vehicle and a method of manufacturing thereof is disclosed, the window assembly comprising a windowpane, a hinge attachment means such as one or more mounting studs for securing the windowpane to a support structure. Preferably the hinge is composed of a unitary elastomeric material such as reaction injection molded polyurethane, having a first surface lying against the inner surface in a closed position. A first portion of such first surface is bonded to the windowpane. A second portion not bonded to the windowpane is spaced therefrom in an open position. Preferably the elastomeric hinge partially encapsulates mounting studs or the like. As the articulating window assembly pivots from a closed position to an open position there is local disengagement of the hinge member from the windowpane at the second surface portion, thereby reducing the stresses on the mounting studs with respect to the hinge.

  • Patent number: 6123279
Abstract: A rock crusher such as a cone or jaw crusher incorporates hardened tapered inserts in the manganese or other wear liner of at least one of its crushing elements. The inserts extend outwardly from the crushing surface of the crushing element towards the facing crushing surface so as, in use, to act as pick axes that shatter rock primarily by impact rather than pulverizing the rock by compression. The inserts are fixed in a heat treated manganese wear liner either by bonding or by press-fitting. The inserts substantially improve the life of the wear liner and, unexpectedly, 1) produce product of a highly uniform gradation in the desired ranges, 2) consistently produce product with a very high cubicity, 3) dramatically reduce the crusher's power requirements, and 4) significantly increase the crusher's capacity.

  • Patent number: 6122836
Abstract: Freeze drying apparatus and associated lyophilization procedures are provided employing vapor flow detection and/or vacuum control for monitoring and control of the lyophilization process. The vapor flow detector, such as a windmill sensor, is disposed to monitor vapor flow from product undergoing lyophilization. In a batch process, vapor flow is collectively monitored with the vapor flow detector between the process chamber and condenser chamber, while in a manifold configuration separate vapor flow detectors are employed at each flask attachment port. A windmill sensor provides visual feedback to an operator and/or electronic feedback to a system controller. A vacuum control system is also provided for use with or independent of vapor flow detection. This vacuum control disconnects the vacuum source from the process chamber when pressure within the process chamber falls below a first predefined set point.

  • Patent number: 6119280
Abstract: An all plastic leak-proof, male urinal has a cap with an outstanding circumferential bead projecting therefrom. The inside of the bottle neck has a circumferential depression which receives the bead. The cap has a flat disk-like diaphragm with a reinforced area in the middle thereof. When the cap is placed over the neck and the reinforced area is pushed, the lid takes on a somewhat conical shape which causes it to slide through the neck to a location where the bead confronts the depression. The reinforced area is released and the memory of the plastic of the lid forces the bead into the depression. A handle on the bottle is spaced from the bottle to form a space which has a cove area that locks onto a rail on a hospital bed.
