  • Publication number: 20150098668
Abstract: A bearing assembly for supporting a shaft comprising a support cartridge, a seal and a spacer is provided. The seal may be a multi-component seal including an outer ring and an inner sleeve, which rotates with the shaft. The seal's outer ring may have a first inwardly projecting annular lip, a second inwardly projecting annular lip and an annular groove defined between the first lip and the second lip. The seal's inner sleeve may have a peripheral flange retained in the outer ring's annular groove. The spacer is adapted to axially locate the inner sleeve's flange. Particularly, the spacer is configured for locating the inner sleeve's flange in the groove of the outer ring so that the flange does not contact either the first lip or the second lip during operation. The spacer may axially locate the inner sleeve such that the inner sleeve's collar contacts an inwardly-extending sealing ring.

  • Patent number: 9000756
Abstract: A rotation sensor assembly includes a rotated component rotatably coupled with a base. The rotation sensor assembly includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is coupled with the base or the rotated component. The transmitter generates a magnetic field including a sinusoidally time-varying dipole near-field corresponding to an excitation signal having a first phase value. The receiver is coupled with the other of the rotated component or the base. The receiver detects the magnetic field and generates a reception signal based on the magnetic field with a second phase value corresponding to a rotation angle of the rotated component relative to the base. The receiver is mechanically isolated from the transmitter. A rotation angle module is coupled with the transmitter. The rotation angle module, for instance a phase detector, measures the rotation angle of the rotated component based on the phase difference in the first and second phase values.

  • Patent number: 8998323
Abstract: A track-mounted aircraft seat has seat track locking pins that are capable of moving independently to remain engaged with the seat track assembly in a warped-floor condition. The seat track locking pins are actuated by means of a pair of torque tubes that rotate independently about a common pilot shaft. A control link, which is operated by the user, acts on a pair of bell cranks each of which acts on one of the torque tubes. The control link is attached to the bell cranks by means of a spherical joint. Because the torque tubes rotate independently and because the spherical joint allows the bell cranks also to move independently, in the event of a warped-floor condition, rotation of one torque tube caused by the skewed seat track will not cause the other torque tube to release its track locking pin.

  • Patent number: 9000918
Abstract: An intrusion delaying barrier includes primary and secondary physical structures and can be instrumented with multiple sensors incorporated into an electronic monitoring and alarm system. Such an instrumented intrusion delaying barrier may be used as a perimeter intrusion defense and assessment system (PIDAS). Problems with not providing effective delay to breaches by intentional intruders and/or terrorists who would otherwise evade detection are solved by attaching the secondary structures to the primary structure, and attaching at least some of the sensors to the secondary structures. By having multiple sensors of various types physically interconnected serves to enable sensors on different parts of the overall structure to respond to common disturbances and thereby provide effective corroboration that a disturbance is not merely a nuisance or false alarm. Use of a machine learning network such as a neural network exploits such corroboration.
