  • Patent number: 10791034
Abstract: A method of simulating a scenario in a telecommunications network is provided. The method comprises: generating a network definition expressed in a common data model readable by first and second routing engines; generating a set of demand matrices describing demands on the network; incorporating a scenario definition into one or more of the network definition and the demand matrices; automatically determining a first aspect of a new network state associated with the scenario definition by determining a first optimised set of routes using the first routing engine based on the network definition and at least one of the demand matrices; and automatically determining a second aspect of the new network state by determining a second optimised set of routes using the second routing engine based on the first optimised set of routes and at least one other of the demand matrices.

  • Patent number: 10574567
Abstract: Methods and systems for generating a model of a transit autonomous system (AS) network. The method comprises analyzing the routing information base for each border gateway protocol (BGP) node in the AS and storing, for each BGP router, (i) a routing table; and, (ii) a prioritized list of next hops for each prefix based on the appropriate best path algorithm. The model can be used to (a) determine how traffic will be routed through the transit AS in steady state and failure scenarios (e.g. when one or more links or nodes/routers have failed); and/or (b) determine how traffic should be routed through the transit AS (e.g. determine the best routes) in steady state and failure scenarios. The optimal routing of the traffic in a particular steady state or failure scenario (as determined by the model) can be compared to the actual routing of the traffic in the steady state or failure scenario (as determined by the model) to determine what changes to make to the transit AS to achieve the optimum routing.

  • Publication number: 20170331764
Abstract: A system for determining an optimal schedule for transmitting data from a source node to a destination node in a telecommunications network. The source node is connected to a plurality of egress links. The system comprises a schedule generator for generating a plurality of candidate schedules.

  • Publication number: 20170331717
Abstract: A system for optimising routing of traffic in a multilayer telecommunications network is described. The multilayer telecommunications network comprises a first layer and a second layer in which a subset of links in the first layer are served by the second layer. The system is configured to receive network topology data describing topology of the first layer and of the second layer and to receive service requirements data describing data transport services required of the multilayer telecommunications network. The system is configured to generate a flat model by modelling the multilayer telecommunications network as a single-layer telecommunications network, the flat model being based on the network topology data and excluding links of the first layer that are served by the second layer.

  • Publication number: 20170331695
Abstract: A system for coordinating a plurality of telecommunications networks is provided. The system comprises a first network orchestrator of a first telecommunications network and a second network orchestrator of a second telecommunications network. The plurality of telecommunications networks is described using a data model that is readable by the first and second network orchestrators and that is capable of representing connectedness and one or more of capacity and demands for service on the network. The first network orchestrator is configured to transmit a first request expressed in terms of the data model for network resources to the second network orchestrator. The second network orchestrator is configured to receive the first request for network resources, automatically determine that the requested network resources can be provided, and automatically transmit to the first network orchestrator a confirmation expressed in terms of the data model that the network resources of the first request can be provided.

  • Publication number: 20170331687
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining the topology of a network having variable traffic demands over a plurality of time periods. The method comprises generating a set of candidate network topologies from a set of network resources including a candidate network topology that satisfies each requirement for each service over the time periods. Each candidate network topology is then evaluated against one or more constraints for the set of service requirements for each time period. It is then determined if a stop condition is satisfied. If the stop condition is not satisfied then the set of candidate network topologies is evolved. If, however, the stop condition is satisfied then the best candidate network topology based on the evaluation is selected as the network topology.
