  • Patent number: 11268039
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to cooling hot biochar based on applying cool gas directly to the hot biochar. The gas may be steam comprising water vapor. Biochar may be cooled in a cooling chamber by cool steam injected into a steam loop configured to cool the steam. The biochar cooled with steam may be dried in a drying chamber by dry gas injected from a gas loop. The gas may be hydrocarbon gas. Biochar may be heated in a processing chamber. Heated biochar may be cooled in a cooling chamber by cool hydrocarbon gas injected to the cooling chamber. Biochar in the processing chamber may be heated with heat recovered from cooling. Filtered byproducts and tail gas may be recovered from the cooling chamber. Tail gas may be recycled. • Patent number: 11242494
Abstract: A method and system for continuous production of contaminant free and size specific biochar using downdraft gasification of variable quality feedstock. The system and process of the present invention includes the transfer of biochar from a gasifier after gasification to a temperature-controlled cooling screw conveyor, into a drum magnet for ferrous metal removal into multiple diverters to separate and remove ungasified materials and non-ferrous metal contaminants, then transferred into a granulator for grinding and screening the biochar to a pre-selected size. By directly attaching a novel and continuous product treatment process to the biochar stream as it exits the gasifier, the particle size, moisture content, carbon content and yield of a contaminant free biochar product can be narrowly controlled and improved to meet strict product quality specifications required by specialty applications.

  • Patent number: 11096418
Abstract: A smoking device for smoking a smokable material, the device comprising an upper bowl presenting a recess for having the smokable material positioned therein and a chimney opening out into the inside of the upper bowl in order to collect therefrom the smoke generated by combustion of said smokable material, said upper bowl including, inside the recess, positioning surfaces arranged to be capable of positioning a capsule inside the recess of said upper bowl, the capsule containing said smokable material. The smoking device includes a perforator adapted to make at least one first hot air flow opening through a wall of the capsule when the capsule is positioned in the recess of the upper bowl and is bearing against said positioning surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20200332205
Abstract: A universal feeder system that combines with a fluidized bed gasification reactor for the treatment of multiple diverse feedstocks including sewage sludge, municipal solid waste, wood waste, refuse derived fuels, automotive shredder residue and non-recyclable plastics. The invention thereby also illustrates a method of gasification for multiple and diverse feedstocks using a universal feeder system. The feeder system comprises one or more feed vessels and at least one live bottom dual screw feeder. The feed vessel is rectangular shaped having three vertical sides and an angled side of no less than 60 degrees from the horizontal to facilitate proper flow of feedstock material that have different and/or variable flow properties. The feedstocks are transferred through an open bottom chute to a live bottom dual screw feeder and through another open bottom chute to a transfer screw feeder that conveys feedstock to the fuel feed inlets of a gasifier.

  • Publication number: 20140102438
Abstract: This invention relates to a device that comprises at least one collection unit (11), equipped with a collection tube (21) placed on supports (23), which is formed by an inner absorber tube (31) shaped as a continuous tube and an outer envelope tube (33). The collection unit (11) also comprises reflectors (15) that direct the radiation toward the collection tube (21). Moreover, the device comprises means (41, 43) designed to maintain the collection tube (21) space between the absorber tube (31) and the envelope tube (33) at a pressure of between 5·10?1-5·10?2 mbar. The main advantages of the invention include the reduction in the breaking of glass due to the lower stresses to fatigue, an increase in the effective collection surface (97%-99%) and active management of the vacuum, which makes it possible to monitor the evolution thereof at all times.

  • Publication number: 20120112780
Abstract: A test socket for an integrated circuit device includes a base for receiving the circuit device and a frame movable linearly toward and away from the base. Springs bias the frame away from the base. Device holders are movable substantially linearly on the frame between a closed position where the device holders are in proximity to one another and an open position where the device holders are remote from one another. Cams move the device holders between the open and closed positions in response to movement of the frame toward and away from the base.

  • Publication number: 20110298323
Abstract: A linear actuator is provided that includes a housing having an input member supported for rotation therein. An output member travels linearly along the input member when the input member is rotated relative to the output member. A guide rail extends along an inner surface of the housing. The output member engages the guide rail to prevent rotation of the output member.

  • Publication number: 20080309934
Abstract: A fluorescence spectrophotometer having an excitation double monochromator, a coaxial excitation/emission light transfer module, and an emission double monochromator. Each monochromator includes a pair of holographic concave gratings mounted to precisely select a desired band of wavelengths from incoming broadband light without using other optical elements, such as mirrors. Selected excitation light is directed into a sample well by a light transfer module that includes a coaxial excitation mirror positioned to direct excitation light directly to the bottom of a well of a multi-well plate. Fluorescence emission light that exits the well opening is collected by a relatively large coaxial emission mirror. The collected emission light is wavelength selected by the emission double monochromator. Selected emission light is detected by a photodetector module.

  • Publication number: 20040012402
Abstract: A test probe consists of an elongated screw machine contact biased by a helical spring and mounted in a through hole of a non-conductive substrate. One end of the contact includes a crown for engaging a solder ball lead of an IC package, and the contact includes an intermediate collar which maintains the contact within the through hole. The helical spring is disposed about the contact, with one end thereof engaging the lower end of the collar. The other end of the helical spring has contiguous coils and is of a reduced diameter so as to extend beyond the lower end of the non-conductive substrate to make electrical contact with a printed circuit board. When the test probe is compressed between the IC package and the printed circuit board, the inherent twisting of the helical spring causes the contact to tilt and make electrical contact with the contiguous coils, thereby establishing a direct electrical path between the IC package and the printed circuit board, with minimum resistance and minimum inductance.
