Abstract: An assisted propulsion system, method and chassis for conveying a payload along a surface are described. A plurality of wheels disposed about the chassis support it on the surface. A drive provides at least assisted propulsion to the chassis along the surface. At least a driving part of the drive is connected to the chassis via a mount having a resiliently sprung link. At least the driving part of the drive has a fixed orientation and is moveable independently of the chassis and the plurality of wheels in a direction towards the surface. The resiliently sprung link is arranged to direct at least the driving part onto the surface during provision of the assisted propulsion. A sensor is arranged to monitor acceleration of the drive and to communicate data on acceleration to a controller, which controls operation of the drive in dependence on the data received from the sensor.

Abstract: A shower stretcher assembly including a frame which supports a platform having panels that define a back rest section, a seat section, and a foot section. The seat section is flexible and capable of conforming to the shape of a person lying thereon.

Abstract: A shower stretcher assembly (10) includes a frame (22) which supports a platform (20) consisting of three mattress support panels (50-54), and a headboard (16) and foot board (18). The support panels (50-54) define a back rest section (30), a seat section (31) and a foot section (32). The seat section (31) is of flexible material to more closely conform to the shape of a person lying thereon. The stretcher assembly (10) is provided with side barriers (68) at each head and foot end, the side barriers (68)arranged to move between a raised vertical position, a raised position extending outwards from the frame, and a lowered position in which they lie alongside the frame so as to be below the level of the mattress of the stretcher. The side barriers present substantially vertical walls to accommodate a water-resistant mattress with side walls (28).

The patient transfer sheet is preferably made of a single-layered material which is breathable, strong and soft. The patient transfer sheet can act as a sling for transportation/repositioning of a patient as well as a replacement bed covering to replace conventional bed linen. The patient can thus be transported onto a bed without needing to remove the patient from the sling.

This flexible material provides increase in the effective length of the mattress support that conforms to person's body between navel and knees.

Abstract: A patient support is provided with a membrane made of a stretchable material. The membrane may be fixed in one embodiment to lateral supports and used as a patient's knee or calf support. During use, the membrane can stretch on the application of force by a patient, which stretch will reduce discomfort and pain and can also assist in preventing slippage of the patient during movement. The flexible membrane may be used also in patient slings and other supports.

Another embodiment provides a patient cradle for cradling a patient from a reclining to a sitting position and vice versa.

Abstract: A patient lift including a boom a spreader bar, and a friction coupling for securing the boom and the spreader bar. The friction coupling may include two friction washers disposed against respective inner faces of the boom. Two compression springs are disposed abutting the friction washers with a spreader bar support member in between. The compression springs urge the friction washers against the inner faces of the boom end. The spreader bar does not swing when the lift is moved without load. Also, the friction coupling reduces the swing of the patient, when transferred in the lift. This makes the lift easier to maneuver for the caregiver.

Abstract: A calf rest is provided for a patient chair. The calf rest may comprise a plate-shaped calf rest pad and a mounting is be mounted on the patient chair by means of a joint arrangement. The joint arrangement may be designed so that the calf rest pad is movable between an inactive moved-away end position, in which the extent of the calf rest pad is substantially parallel to one side of the patient chair and the calf rest pad can be positioned close to the patient chair, and a second active end position, where the calf rest pad is capable of supporting the patient's legs when extended, outwards away from the patient chair.

Abstract: An apparatus for showering and disinfection of a sanitary facility includes a first shower, a first operating device for opening or closing the supply of liquid to the first shower, and a first conduit for supplying water to the shower. A tank is disposed in the first conduit and is connected, via a first inlet pipe of the first conduit, to a supply pipe and is connected by a second conduit section, to the shower. The first conduit section discharges in the tank above a highest permitted filling level, whereby there is created an air gap between liquid in the tank and the discharge of the conduit section. Downstream of the air gap, a device is coupled in for the supply of disinfectant to the storage space of the tank, or to the second conduit section.
