Abstract: This invention provides a process for enhancing the generation of hydroxyl radicals in aqueous mixtures containing hydrogen peroxide, which process comprises supplying oxygen and magnesium oxide to the mixture and irradiating it with UV light. The process can be used, for example, for processing ballast water, industrial waste waters, and municipal waste waters.

Abstract: A reverse flow rinsing fluid filtering device, particularly for large diameter piping. Housing (12) has inlet port (14), outlet port (20) and a battery of filtering discs divided into three groups D1, D2 and D3 by partition rings 80a and 80b.
Abstract: In a liquid filter of the reverse-flow flush-cleaning type, the present invention provides the improvement of mounting the pack of discs (170) intermediate to an assembly including a seat member (200) and screw-thread split-ring (202).
Abstract: A pipe coupling for connecting a pipe to a flange associated with another pipe in a sealed manner. The pipe (10) is formed with circumferential groove (10a). The coupling comprises a gasket (20), a mounting ring (18), and a mounting flange (22). The ring (18) is elastically expandable, e.g. by being split, and formed with projecting rib (18a) adapted to fit into the groove (10a) and hold the ring affixed to the pipe (10). The mounting flange (22) is tightened against both the ring (18) and a counter-flange (12), through matching cone-shaped surfaces (18c, 22a).
Abstract: A process for the treatment of water comprises: a) Adding to the water an oxidizing agent in a stunning concentration, wherein the detention time of said agent between adding it to water and the subsequent steps of filtration and/or irradiation is up to about 90 seconds; b) filtering the oxidized water by a filtration system having a filtering size larger than the average size of suspended organic matter in the water; and c) exposing the oxidized and filtered water to irradiation.
Abstract: A 3-way hydraulic valve comprising a body formed with an inlet port for connecting to a pressurized supply line, a first outlet port for connecting to an outlet line and being in flow communication with the inlet port, a gate intermediate the inlet port and the first outlet port, dividing the body into an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber, the body further comprises a second outlet extending from the outlet chamber, and a control chamber fitted with a deformable diaphragm sealingly engageable with the gate so as to prevent flow between the inlet port and the first outlet port, and a sealing port associated with the second outlet and comprising a sealing member linearly displaceable between a closed and an open position.
