    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for a video enabled armor system for use in an armored surface of a vehicle. In one embodiment the system has an exterior facing ballistic resistant armor panel mounted over an opening in the armored surface of the vehicle, with the armor panel overlaying the armored surface around a perimeter of the opening. The armor panel has a first aperture in a portion of the panel adjacent the opening, and a first video camera disposed in the first aperture aimed outward through the first aperture. The system may further include a video display operatively connected to the first video camera and mounted over the opening on an interior side of the armored surface.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for a vehicle seat weight detection system utilizing a metal deformation type energy attenuating device disposed in a load path between a seat and a vehicle structure. The energy attenuating device includes a weight sensing portion with a first end connected to one of the seat or vehicle structure, and a second end configured to transfer the seat weight load to a deformable portion of the energy attenuating device connected to the other of the seat and vehicle structure. An aperture in the weight sensing portion between the first and second ends divides a region adjacent the aperture into first and second sides. A slot intersecting the aperture and lying on a plane generally perpendicular to the load path divides the second side into upper and lower halves. A sensor on a surface of the first side of the weight sensing portion is configured to detect strain variations in the surface and produce a calibrated weight signal.

The windshield includes a ballistic resistant glass panel in a rectangular windshield frame with a perimeter portion configured to fit within a rectangular opening in a vehicle cab. The windshield frame may further include an exterior flange configured to overlay an outside surface of the opening in the vehicle cab, and an interior flange extending from the windshield frame opposite the exterior flange. The exterior and interior flanges define an open channel on a first side of the windshield frame configured to fit around a vertical portion of the opening in the vehicle cab when the windshield is seated in the opening. A spring-loaded latch on the windshield frame is operable from inside the vehicle cab to release a second, opposite side of the windshield frame from the opening in the vehicle cab.

The energy attenuating component is configured to deform in a predictable manner in response to a shock load that reaches a predefined threshold value, allowing the seat to stroke in the stroking direction as the energy attenuating component absorbs energy.
