  • Patent number: 11955882
Abstract: An active discharge circuit for electric vehicle inverter, the active discharge circuit intended to be connected in parallel with a DC link capacitor connected between positive and negative lines of a DC power link, wherein the circuit comprises a dissipative current source, a switch connected in series with the current source between the DC lines, and a controller connected to the switch and arranged to apply an activation signal in dependence of a control signal, the activation signal placing the switch in a conducting state, wherein the current source is configured to draw a discharge current and dissipate any energy stored in the DC link capacitor when the switch is in the conducting state. As long as the switch is closed by the activation signal, the current source will draw a constant current and dissipate power, and the voltage across the DC link capacitor will decrease linearly.

  • Patent number: 11497142
Abstract: An assembly (110) for dissipating heat generated by a heat generating electrical component (16) which is surface mounted on a circuit board (11) in a surface mounting process. The assembly comprises a heat buffer (120) made of a thermally and electrically conducing material, and being surface mounted on the circuit board (11) so as to be soldered to a thermal flag (18) of the heat generating electrical component (16). The assembly further comprises a heat sink (12) in thermal contact with the heat buffer, and a galvanic separation (13) between the heat buffer and heat sink. The heat capacitance of the heat buffer can absorb short term increases in heat dissipation from the electrical component, before the heat is further dissipated to the galvanically separated heat sink. This may drastically improve performance of the surface mounted component.

  • Patent number: 10778136
Abstract: A multiphase electric motor system and a method for controlling a multiphase electric motor system are disclosed. The method for controlling the multiphase electric motor system includes modulating a plurality of carrier signals with a plurality of modulation signals in order to generate a multiphase motor supply signal having a modulated phase signal for each phase of the electric motor. A set of time windows is defined in each period of the multiphase motor supply signal, where an individually selected group of modulated phase signals is modified by delaying the associated carrier signal in each time window, thereby generating a shifted multiphase motor supply signal and providing an efficient DC bus ripple reduction. Hereby, it is e.g. possible to use small filter capacitors/capacitor banks in electrical motor systems. An analogous multiphase electric generator system and method for controlling a multiphase electric generator system are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10348233
Abstract: An electrical motor system and a method for operating the electrical motor system are disclosed. The electrical motor system comprises a direct current (DC) source, a filter connected in parallel with the DC source and an electric motor with at least two sets of windings. A voltage signal is provided from the DC source to the inverter circuit where the signal is modulated. The modulated signal is then supplied from the inverter circuit to each set of windings with a respective time offset between each set of windings respectively, providing a very efficient DC bus ripple reduction. Hereby, it is e.g. possible to use small filter capacitors/capacitor banks in electrical motor systems.

  • Patent number: 10341026
Abstract: An optical bus system (1) having a start-up state and at least one operating state is disclosed. The optical bus system (1) includes a mechanical support structure (21) arranged to receive and hold a master module (2) having a downstream optical interface (3) and a set of slave modules (6) each having an upstream optical interface (7) and a downstream optical interface (8). The modules are attached to the mechanical support structure (21) such that optical interfaces of adjacent modules are aligned and in close proximity to each other in order to enable optical communication (24, 25) between adjacent modules. Each slave module (6) is further provided with circuitry to form one or two shunting signal paths (30, 31) depending on operating state after an addressing procedure is completed in the start-up state. Hereby, it is e.g. possible to realize a robust and cost-efficient optical bus system with high bandwidth capability.

  • Patent number: 8924017
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention discloses an apparatus for recyclable absorption of electric retardation energy from a multiple axis industrial robotics system, including a robot control unit and at least one drive unit, which generates the electrical retardation energy at retardation. By an apparatus according to the present invention, the electric retardation energy, which occurs when a drive unit is retarded and is transferred into generator mode, may be recycled by the brake unit of the apparatus, which accelerates a mechanical device connected to the brake unit. The electric retardation energy is thus transferred into kinetic energy that may be stored in mechanical devices. An embodiment of the present invention also refers to a corresponding method for recyclable absorption of electric retardation energy from a multiple axis industrial robotics system.

  • Patent number: 4617971
Abstract: The present invention relates to a loom control system operable to stop a loom in the presence of a yarn breakage. This loom comprises a feeding device having a yarn storage drum for temporarily storing the yarn and a yarn store sensor for sensing the quantity of yarn stored on the drum of the feeding device and for transmitting an electric sensor signal representing the quantity of yarn stored on the drum to the feeding device to control the operation of the feeding device and to thereby control the quantity of yarn stored on the drum. A monitor circuit is electrically connected to the yarn store sensor for receiving the sensor signal, wherein the monitor circuit derives information on yarn breakage before and/or after the feeding device from the sensor signal or its variation with respect to time to generate a stop signal for the loom.

  • Patent number: 4298172
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus which enables thread to be wound onto the motor driven storage drum of a thread storage and feeding device for a thread processing machine strictly continuously and uniformly with the aim of ensuring that the thread as wound off the thread supply bobbin is wound onto the storage drum in such a way that variations in the tension of the thread as pulled off the storage drum are eliminated. This is achieved by controlling the number of revolutions of the motor in response to a control signal which is derived from the thread intermediate supply on the drum and the actual thread consumption, i.e., the average speed of the thread leaving the drum.
