  • Patent number: 6682593
Abstract: An emulsion for stabilizing aggregate utilizes an amount of soap solution comprising a mixture of water and a non-ionic surfactant and further utilizes a base mixture including a pine tar mixture and a drying oil, such as linseed oil. The composition of the base mixture comprises between about 1 percent and 70 percent, by weight, of the emulsion and the particle size of the emulsion is no greater than about 10 microns. When the emulsion is appropriately blended with an aggregate so that the base mixture comprises between about 5 to 7 percent of the emulsion/aggregate blend, the resulting product is suitable for applications, such as paving and roadway applications, or other applications in which the aggregate is desired to be stabilized.

  • Patent number: 6340394
Abstract: A granular feed distribution and ladder chute apparatus for use within a silo comprising a ladder chute portion with internal alternating and staggered flights. One or more nozzles are located near the upper end of the ladder chute portion. Each nozzle is directed such that a spray pattern may be formed for spraying a concentration of a conditioning agent on a falling granular feed. Predetermined selected flights include cut-out portions arranged in a predetermined alternating sequence on the flights so that a distributed portion of the granular feed can fall directly through the cut-out portion in one flight onto another flight located on a same side from which the granular feed fell. Holes are included in the ladder chute portion, which not only as access for cleaning and inspecting the flights, but also for facilitating the distribution of granular feed into an area outside the perimeter of the ladder chute portion and within the silo.

  • Patent number: 6127937
Abstract: System and method for monitoring of environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity and pressure, inside a granulated material pile, particularly piles of fertilizer, at production and storage sites. Environmental condition detectors in a plurality of first housing segments are spaced apart within the pile by intermediate elongate second housing segments to form an elongate columnar housing which extends within the pile. Data can be transmitted through electrical cables or by radio frequency transmitted data. The conditions at various levels adjacent each first housing segment can be monitored and correlated with the aging of the pile until the pile reaches grade. The data may be displayed and processed to correlate and profile the data for signs of pile set.

  • Patent number: 6062094
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a dust content in a sample of granules includes an elongate vertically oriented generally cylindrical hollow tower with a bottom portion, an intermediate portion and a top portion adapted to detachably engage the intermediate portion. The bottom portion further includes collection means for collecting the granules processed through the tower. Air is recirculated through the apparatus using air recirculation means such as a blower/vacuum device. A series of valves and pressure sensing gauges for regulating and controlling the air flow are installed within the recirculation path. The tower intermediate portion further includes a plurality of horizontally oriented grates, each grate being secured in a predetermined space apart relationship. A filter is used between the top portion and the intermediate portion to trap dust blown from the granules as the granules are dropping through the grates.

  • Patent number: 5947645
Abstract: A fiber dispensing system for storing and delivering fibrous material includes a housing for receiving and storing the fibrous material. The housing has an activatable dispensing mechanism for selectively dispensing the fibrous material from the housing. A control mechanism is electrically connected to the dispensing mechanism for receiving an activation signal to activate the dispensing mechanism. A load mechanism associated with the housing and electrically connected to the control mechanism measures the weight amount of any fibrous material within the housing and transmits a weight amount data signal to the control mechanism. The control mechanism further activates a solenoid valve which in turn activates a water nozzle spray assembly for wetting of fibrous material prior to discharge into a receptacle.
