  • Patent number: 12126665
Abstract: A command services manager of a control device can receive a command from a user interface device and provide for the storing and sharing of the command with one or more service providers so as to provide an improved user experience. Media service providers can register with a network resource associated with the command services manager. The command can be encrypted and stored locally at the control device or remotely at a network resource and be sent to a registered media service provider so that the media service provider can provide improved search responses and/or customize the interaction with the user, recommendation of content availability from other service providers, etc. The command services manager can also receive notifications from the media service provider and provide the notifications to the user, for example, notifications indicative of the success or failure of a command.

  • Patent number: 12120217
Abstract: A fully homomorphic white-box implementation of one or more cryptographic operations is presented. This method allows construction of white-box implementations from general-purpose code without necessitating specialized knowledge in cryptography, and with minimal impact to the processing and memory requirements for non-white-box implementations. This method and the techniques that use it are ideally suited for securing “math heavy” implementations, such as codecs, that currently do not benefit from white-box security because of memory or processing concerns. Further, the fully homomorphic white-box construction can produce a white-box implementation from general purpose program code, such as C or C++.

  • Patent number: 12120514
Abstract: A multi-modal portal system provides an authorization prior to establishing a visual interface connection between a support user or caller and a client user or receiving party. Once the caller is authorized, the caller is permitted to drop-in such that a visual interface connection is established with the receiving party. The authorization can be based on a profile configuration that indicates whether the caller has the credentials required for the visual interface. The authorization can require that a notification be sent to a trusted user or primary contact or the caller can be associated with a profile configuration that allows for a pre-authorization without requiring the notification. Also, security is enhanced by validating network devices and providing resiliency in data paths between network devices and data aggregators.

  • Publication number: 20240340416
Abstract: A method of partitioning in video coding for JVET, comprising representing a JVET coding tree unit as a root node in a quadtree plus binary tree (QTBT structure that can have quadtree or binary partitioning of the root node and quadtree or binary trees branching from each of the leaf nodes. The partitioning at any depth can use asymmetric binary partitioning to split a child node represented by a leaf node into two child coding units of unequal size, representing the two child coding units as leaf nodes in a binary tree branching from the parent leaf node and coding the child coding units represented by final leaf nodes of the binary tree with JVET. Disclosed is a generalized method of partitioning a block, either square or rectangular, which leads to more flexible block sizes with possible higher coding efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20240333947
Abstract: A sampling filter process is provided for scalable video coding. The process provides for re-sampling using video data obtained from an encoder or decoder process of a base layer (BL) in a multi-layer system using adaptive phase shifting to improve quality in Scalable High efficiency Video Coding (SHVC). In order to compensate for phase offsets introduced by downsampling an appropriate phase offset adjustment is made for upsampling in SHVC with an appropriate offset included for proper luma/chroma color space positions. In one approach the luma/chroma phase offset is specified and a filter is selected to apply the appropriate phase change.

  • Publication number: 20240323382
Abstract: A method of encoding a digital video data applies adaptive pre-processing to data representing high dynamic range (HDR) and/or wide color gamut (WCG) image data prior to encoding and complementary post-processing to the data after decoding in order to allow at least partial reproduction of the HDR and/or WCG data. The example methods apply one or more color space conversions, and a perceptual transfer functions to the data prior to quantization. The example methods apply inverse perceptual transfer functions and inverse color space conversions after decoding to recover the HDR and/or WCG data. The transfer functions are adaptive so that different transfer functions may be applied to video data sets including different groups of frames, frames or processing windows in a single frame. Information on the data set and information on the applied transfer function is passed as metadata from the encoder to the decoder.

  • Patent number: 12101500
Abstract: A method of decoding JVET video includes receiving a bitstream and calculating a final planar prediction in planar mode to predict pixel values for a current coding block. The final planar prediction may rely on using unequal weights applied to each of a horizontal and vertical predictor, where such predictors may be generated by interpolating neighboring pixels for each predicted pixel within a coding block. The computation may be made more accurate by deriving a value for a bottom right neighboring pixel.

  • Patent number: 12100006
Abstract: A control device connected to a media device can autonomously return the active source input of the media device to a previously selected active source input. Any client device within a network may be able to switch the active source input of the media device to the source input associated with the device so as to deliver media content to the media device. Tor return to the previous active source input generally requires user intervention. However, the control device can store the previous active source input of the media device and then, when the media content is terminated or the client device disconnects from the media device, transmit a source input command that causes the media device to cycle through the plurality of source inputs associated with the media device until the active source input is the previous source input without requiring any user intervention.

  • Patent number: 12096014
Abstract: A method is provided for encoding a digital video to improve perceptual quality. The method includes receiving a digital video at a video encoder, providing a perceptual quantizer function defined by P ? Q ? ( L ) = ( c 1 + c 2 ? L m 1 1 + c 3 ? L m 1 ) m 2 , wherein L is a luminance value, c1, c2, c3, and m1 are parameters with fixed values, and m2 is a parameter with a variable value, adapting the perceptual quantizer function by adjusting the value of the m2 parameter based on different luminance value ranges found within a coding level of the digital video, encoding the digital video into a bitstream using, in part, the perceptual quantizer function, transmitting the bitstream to a decoder, and transmitting the value of the m2 parameter to the decoder for each luminance value range in the coding level.
