    Abstract: A fastening tool is provided with a housing having a fastener outlet. A striker is mounted for translation in the housing to drive a fastener from the fastener outlet in an unloaded position. A biasing member cooperates with the striker to urge the striker towards the unloaded position. A motor is oriented in the housing. A cam is driven by the motor, and has a cam surface in cooperation with the striker such that rotation of the cam translates the striker to a loaded position and to a release position whereby the biasing member drives the striker to the unloaded position. The cam surface is profiled to require a constant torque from the rotary input during translation of the striker to the loaded position while loading the biasing member.

A magazine body is received within the magazine receptacle to translate to a retracted position whereby a proximal end is adjacent the fastener outlet to store fasteners within the receptacle and to convey the fasteners to the fastener outlet, and to translate to an extended position whereby the body extends at least partially out of the receptacle for receipt of fasteners to the receptacle. A blocker is mounted to a side of the magazine body spaced apart from the fastener intake side. The blocker has a transverse width greater than a width of the body for blocking intake of fasteners to a wrong side of the body. Instructional indicia are provided on the blocker to instruct a user regarding proper fastener installation.

A magazine is mounted in the housing to store fasteners and to convey the fasteners to a fastener outlet. A knife is mounted in the housing for translation between a latched position and a release position to drive a fastener from the magazine through the outlet during translation to the release position. A biasing member is mounted in the housing and is operably connected to the knife to bias the knife to the release position. A handle is mounted to the housing to translate relative to the housing. The handle is operably connected to the knife and the biasing member to load the biasing member and release the knife and the biasing member, thereby permitting the biasing member to return the knife to the release position to drive a fastener through the outlet.

A handle is pivotally connected to the housing. A roller is directly connected to the lever and the handle for permitting translation of the lever relative to the handle as the lever and the handle are pivoted relative to the housing. A spring-loaded bracket is operably connected to the magazine body for translation and rotation relative to the body. A latch is mounted to the housing to engage the bracket and maintain the magazine body in a retracted position, and is movable to a disengaged position wherein the bracket extends from the magazine body.
