Patents Assigned to Arrow Fastener Company, Inc.
  • Publication number: 20090145944
Abstract: A continuous cap feed mechanism for use with fastener driving device includes a housing for receiving a coiled strip of interconnected caps removably mounted the fastener driving device. The housing includes a passageway for guiding the strip of caps from the coil to a position beneath a fastener to be driven by the fastener driving device and an advancing mechanism for moving the leading cap on said strip from the passage to the position beneath the fastener to be driven after the fastener driving device drives a prior fastener into a cap and as it is moved away from the previously driven fastener. The advancing mechanism includes a driver movably mounted in the housing for movement between an extended and retracted position adjacent the location on the fastener driving device at which the fastener driving device drives fasteners.

  • Patent number: 5210956
Abstract: A retractable tape measure assembly is disclosed which includes a housing, a coiled tape located in the housing, which tape is adapted to be extended from and retracted into the housing. The coiled tape has a free end with a pull tab secured thereto. A resilient bumper is mounted in the housing in position to contact the pull tab when the tape is retracted. The bumper includes a front surface for contacting the pull tab and a tape support surface behind the front surface extending generally perpendicular thereto. An integral spring is located behind the tape support surface and engages a stop in the housing so that when the tape is retracted the spring is compressed to absorb the stress in the tape. The casing also includes a tape lock mechanism for locking the tape in an extended position. The pull tab also has a rear surface on which a high friction element is placed to help hold the pull tab in position when the tape is extended and engaged with a work piece for measurement.

  • Patent number: 5107390
Abstract: A shell-form transformer for charging an energy storage device contained in a battery powered impact device. The primary and secondary windings of the transformer are wound in a predetermined manner around the center leg of a core which has an air gap therein. The gap increases the reluctance of the center leg which decreases the flow of magnetic flux through the core which, in turn, enables the current applied to the transformer primary to be increased without causing the core to be saturated. As a result, the current applied to the transformer primary can be increased, thereby increasing the output voltage supplied from the transformer secondary which, in turn, enables rapid charging of the energy storage device.

  • Patent number: 4946087
Abstract: A hand-held staple driving tool is provided for driving staples near to obstructions, such as walls. The tool has a solenoid, a olenoid plunger and a staple driving knife which is mounted generally parallel to the axis of the solenoid, but outboard of it near the front of the housing. The staple driving knife is connected to the solenoid plunger by means of an overhung transverse drive beam which is connected at its forward end to the upper part of the knife and at its rearward end to the top of the plunger. The tool further has a siamese twin housing which has a live hinge at its front end. The tool has an extended staple driving chute to permit driving staples into small recesses. The tool further has a combination mounting and grounding device using only a single screw.

  • Patent number: 4706869
Abstract: An attachment for a staple gun tacker having a staple driving blade is disclosed which is adapted to be used in driving and setting a rivet of the type having a pin member mounted in a headed rivet shank having an expandable workpiece piercing free end. The attachment includes a housing adapted to be frictionally engaged on the working end of a staple gun tacker and having a bore located to be generally in axial alignment with the driving blade of the staple gun tacker. A hollow flanged bushing is slidably mounted in the housing bore with a spring for biasing the bushing away from the housing to engage the shoulder of the interior of the housing and to permit retraction of the bushing into the housing against the bias of the spring. A pin punch which is axially free floating within its operative range of movement is slidably mounted in the bushing for axial movement therein.

The staple gun tacker includes a front cover over the driving mechanism which has a recess or slot formed therein to receive the pin member or top of the rivet and guide it into alignment with the drive blade of the staple gun so that upon operation of the staple gun the driving blade applies a driving force to drive the pin member of the rivet and thus expands the free end of the rivet.
