Abstract: A system and method are provided for the biometric recognition of a human being based on a combination of biological and behavioristic traits to achieve increased recognition accuracy and to protect against false identifications based on imitated traits. Behavioristic traits comprise biometric traits involving behavior acquired by a human being during his or her lifetime that are capable of being associated with an individual. A plurality of time-sequenced 5D images of a person's body can be captured of a person and used to recognize a person based on his/her behavioristic traits by comparing time variable components in the 5D images with stored values associated with the behavioristic traits of respective persons, while the person can be further recognized based on his/her biological traits by comparing time constant components in the 5D images with stored values associated with the biological traits of respective persons.

Abstract: An combined object capturing system and display device and associated method are provided for capturing and measuring an object near a display device. The object capturing system may include at least one projection device for projecting a structured light pattern onto a surface of the object, at least one detection device for capturing at least one image of the structured light pattern acting on the surface of the object, and a computing device for determining a measurement relating to the captured image. The display device may provide a position for the object to assume with respect to the object capturing system. The object capturing system may be combined with, attached to or otherwise positioned alongside the display device. The measurement may be processed constantly and may determine a level of use of the display device, a computer connected to the display device or any device connected to the display device.

  • Publication number: 20090067706
Abstract: A system and method are provided for the multiframe surface measurement of the shape of material objects. The system and method include capturing a plurality of images of portions of the surface of the object being measured and merging the captured images together in a common reference system. The shape and/or texture of a complex-shaped object can be measured using a 3D scanner by capturing multiple images from different perspectives and subsequently merging the images in a common coordinate system to align the merged images together. Alignment is achieved by capturing images of both a portion of the surface of the object and also of a reference object having known characteristics (e.g., shape and/or texture). This allows the position and orientation of the object scanner to be determined in the coordinate system of the reference object.

  • Publication number: 20090059241
Abstract: A system and method are provided for the 3D measurement of the shape of material objects using non-contact structured light triangulation. The system includes a light projector for projecting a structured light pattern onto the surface of any object and a camera for capturing an image of the structured light pattern acting on the surface of the object. The system further includes computing device for determining the 3D measurement of the surface shape of the illuminated object through a triangulation algorithm employed based on a calculated correspondence between the projected structured light and the captured image. The structured light includes coded elements that lie within planes passing through vertices of the central projection areas of both the projector and the camera also that pass through the space of the object being measured.
