  • Patent number: 6685026
Abstract: A container which is formed from a one-piece blank so as to define a pair of side wall structures which support a fragile article in spaced relation from all external sides of the container. The side wall structures are folded so as to form generally tubular configurations which define respective elongate channels disposed in opposed relation with one another on opposite sides of the container. Opposite edges of the article are inserted into the respective channels so as to be spaced from the top, bottom and all sides of the container to provide protection against impact, for example during storage or transport.

  • Patent number: 6685085
Abstract: A food container formed from a foldable blank of corrugated cardboard into a box-like configuration for transport and/or storage of a food product such as pizza or the like. The container incorporates therein tamper-resistant features adjacent the front corners, including a pair of inwardly foldable locking walls provided on the bottom part of the container which cooperate with upright tabs located on the top part which prevent opening of the container. An additional pair of tabs are provided on the top part of the container which block access to the folded locking walls, which tabs are then removed by the consumer to open the container.

  • Patent number: 5921466
Abstract: A food container formed from a foldable blank of corrugated cardboard into a box-like configuration for transport of a food product therein such as pizza. The food container includes upper and lower portions which are swingable towards and away from one another to define closed and open configurations of the box. The lower portion of the container has a generally planar bottom wall from which a pair of elongate side walls and front and rear side walls fold upwardly and angle outwardly relative thereto. The angled orientation of the side walls permits nesting of partially assembled containers one within the other in a vertically stacked configuration. The upper portion of the container includes a generally planar top wall from which a pair of side walls fold downwardly along side edges thereof. Each of these side walls includes an outwardly projecting locking tab which engages within a correspondingly located rear slot formed in the lower portion.

  • Patent number: 5899377
Abstract: A wrapper-type box for transporting a sandwich. The box is formed from a one-piece flat blank of stiff but foldable cardboard. The blank has a main part with a plurality of parallel fold lines which divide the main part into four adjacent side walls. The main part is folded about the fold lines to assume an elongate tubular body of rectangular configuration. An edge flap and a top wall overlap and have cooperating locking tabs and slots to secure the main part in an assembled condition The edge flap also has a looplike handle formed therein. The one-piece blank also includes a pair of flaps associated with and projecting outwardly from each end. To effect closure of the end of the tubular body, the pair of flaps are folded inwardly into the box interior through a sufficient angle so that a tab on one flap passes over the other flap and projects into a slot provided on the other flap.

  • Patent number: 5377600
Abstract: A pallet assembly made of a web of corrugated paperboard and providing a flat deck, a pair of parallel stringers for supporting the pallet on the ground, and flaps associated with the stringer sidewalls and folded to project interiorly of the stringer to strengthen the pallet and form openings for receiving the horizontal support bars of a forklift truck. The pallet assembly may have one or more additional stringers provided thereon. Additional flaps can also be provided to achieve additional strengthening effects. The stringer can be constructed as a separate element for attachment to a suitable deck or box to create a pallet-like construction.

  • Patent number: 5253800
Abstract: A one piece pizza tray blank having a generally planar member and a pair of sidewalls capable of being folded upward therefrom. Each of the sidewalls has a pair of opposing extensions capable of being folded inward therefrom along vertical extension fold lines. Each of the extensions has a foot extending downward therefrom in the direction of the planar member. The feet are designed to lockingly engage with slots and pressure tabs in the corner regions of the planar member for lockingly engaging the sidewalls and extensions in a vertical position. The feet also act as supports to prevent the planar member holding a pizza from contacting a counter or table top upon which it may be placed. This pizza tray may be slid inside of an appropriate bag for pizza transport.

  • Patent number: 5145070
Abstract: A one-piece, top opening, container which is preferably made of multiply corrugated cardboard. The container comprises a pair of opposed end wall panels and a pair of opposed side wall panels foldably joined together to form a tubular structure, and top and bottom closures for closing opposite ends of the container. The bottom closure comprises at least one object support or platform which projects upwardly into the container and is adapted for supporting the object that is to be packaged therein. The object support includes foldably joined panel sections and it has an edge which is joined by a fold line to one of the wall panels of the container so that the panel sections of the support can lie substantially flat against the lower portion of the one end wall panel when the container is in a knockdown condition. The top closure comprises at least one restraint wall which extends across the interior of the container at a location spaced downwardly from the upper end thereof.

  • Patent number: 5098013
Abstract: A tray for transporting a single slice of pizza while facilitating use of the tray as a support so that the piece of pizza can be removed from and repositioned on the tray during eating thereof. The tray includes a generally triangular bottom wall and a pair of low-height side walls which extend along opposite identical side edges of the bottom wall. The other or base edge of the tray is open to facilitate movement of a piece of pizza either onto or off of the tray. The tray is formed from a flat blank constructed preferably of corrugated paperboard, with fold lines separating the low side walls from the bottom wall so that the side walls can be folded upwardly to be generally perpendicular to the bottom wall. One of the side walls has a latching tab integrally associated therewith and foldable so as to wrap around one end of the other side wall for insertion into an elongate slot which extends along the fold between the other side wall and the bottom wall to latch the tray in its assembled position.
