Patent number: 7629722Abstract: An electric motor assembly device includes a carrier member with a central passage that receives a rotor shaft with a commutator. Brushes secured onto flexible, brush holders urge the brushes towards the central passage into a contact position with the commutator. The carrier member has mechanical elements for restraining the brush holders in an assembly position for assembly where the brushes clear the central passage and are protected against impact by the carrier member. This arrangement allows the rotor shaft to be introduced into the central passage of the carrier member without a risk of damaging the brushes. The brush holders are easily released automatically from the mechanical elements on the electric motor assembly device to bring the brushes into the contact position.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2007Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignee: ArvinMeritor Light Vehicle Systems - FranceInventors: Philippe Raoul, Gerard Fournier, Benoit Bazin, Stephane Omelezuk

Patent number: 7540114Abstract: A cable tensioner includes two cams mounted to face each other that pivot about a common spindle. A torsion spring is centered on the spindle. The torsion spring includes a first end in abutment with a first cam and a second end in abutment with a second cam. The torsion spring applies a torque onto each of the cams to reduce an angular distance between the cams when a cable exhibits insufficient tension. The cable tensioner is placed in a window regulator mechanism to simultaneously tension a lower cable and an upper cable of the device. Furthermore, the tension of one cable through the cable tensioner is reversible since the tension of each cable is balanced with the tension of the other cable.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2005Date of Patent: June 2, 2009Assignee: ArvinMeritor Light Vehicle Systems - FranceInventor: Fabien Dufour

Patent number: 7436136Abstract: An anti-pinch control system is used to identify obstructions in a path of movement for a powered vehicle member, such as a vehicle window for example. A pinching area is identified for the vehicle window and at least one indicium or indicator is mounted to a vehicle structure to be in view of a camera. The indicium is positioned such that no object may pass into the pinching area without also passing between the camera and at least a portion of the indicium. The camera identifies an obstruction when any portion of the indicium is obscured. This indicium includes a plurality of predefined zones, with each zone being associated with an operational function, such as upward window movement, downward window movement, door locking, side mirror movement, etc. This eliminates the need for separate switches to perform each of these functions thereby reducing overall cost for a vehicle door system.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2006Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: ArvinMeritor Light Vehicle Systems - FranceInventor: Christopher David Rhodes

Patent number: 7325360Abstract: A cable tensioner includes two members, such as a pipe and a tube, that define a cable path. The members are helically mobile relative to each other. A retractable detent permits the relative movement of the members in one direction and prevents the relative movement of the members in another direction. The cable tensioner is thus irreversible, regardless of the operating conditions. The cable tensioner is, for example, applicable to a cable used in a vehicle window regulator. The window regulator cable extends in a protective sheath. One end of the protective sheath abuts against the second member, and the second member acts on the end of the protective sheath to increase the cable path and cable tension.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2004Date of Patent: February 5, 2008Assignee: ArvinMeritor Light Vehicle Systems - FranceInventors: Mustapha Mazouzi, Pradet Marc
