  • Publication number: 20100074836
Abstract: Systems and methods for the recovery of iodine are described. In particular, recovery systems and methods produce an iodine complex from an aqueous brine containing iodide. A head tank for maintains a supply of the brine, a pH controller acidifies brine received from the head tank and an oxidizer converts iodide in the acidified brine to elemental iodine. At least one activated carbon contactor module is removably inserted into a stream of the oxidized brine provided by the oxidizer and binds the molecular iodine to form the iodine complex. A container may enclose the head tank, the pH controller and the oxidizer in order to facilitate transportation of the system and performance of the methods and processes in proximity to a brine source. The brine may be employed or associated with oilfield operations.

  • Patent number: 7651978
Abstract: The present invention relates to selective-herbicidal compositions, characterized in that they contain an effective amount of the compound 2-(2-trifluoromethoxy-phenylsulphonylaminocarbonyl)-4-methyl-5-methoxy-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one of the formula (I) and/or of salts of the compound of the formula (I), and to the use of these compositions for the selective control of weeds in crops of cereals, in particular crops of wheat, and to methods for the selective control of weeds in crops of cereals by applying the compositions together with surfactants and/or customary extenders.

  • Publication number: 20090262003
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for introducing a discrete, predetermined amount of material into soil at a plurality of predetermined points in the soil which includes a container for holding the material to be introduced into the soil, and tubing in fluid communication with the container at a first end thereof. At least one electrically controlled injector is provided in fluid communication with a second end of said tubing. Also, at least one shank is provided, which includes a base, and an injector mounting member attached to a surface of the base that is adapted for detachably mounting the electrically controlled injector onto the base. In addition, a controller is provided for activating the electrically controlled injector to introduce the material into the soil. Accordingly, enhanced control of the injection of the material into soil is achieved, and maintenance can be performed easily.

  • Patent number: 7407927
Abstract: Objectionable odors from agrichemicals can be masked by adding one or more terpene or their oxygenated derivatives to the formulation before, during, or after application. A particularly preferred formulation is a granulated insecticide that includes an insecticidal amount of a phosphoroamido(di)thioate in solid form, a polymeric binder, a small amount of an anticking aid, and a masking agent containing an essential oil that is either mixed throughout the granule or sprayed onto its surface. The essential oil masks objectionable odors from the active ingredient without adversely affecting the storage stability or efficacy of the active ingredient.
