  • Patent number: 6488631
Abstract: An ultrasonic endoscope has a bending portion, an ultrasonic probe, and a flexible circuit board. The bending portion, connected to the point of a flexible tube, bends along two predetermined bending-directions perpendicular to each other, by remote control. The ultrasonic probe has a plurality of ultrasonic wave vibrators, which are arranged circumferentially, and send ultrasonic waves radially and receive echoes of the ultrasonic waves. The flexible circuit board, which transmits signals associated with the ultrasonic waves and the echoes, is constructed of a plurality of flexible circuit board strips in the bending portion so as to allow a bending motion. The plurality of flexible circuit board strips are arranged such that a bending-resistance to the bending motion occurs symmetrically with respect to a primary central line, corresponding to one of the two bending-directions.

  • Patent number: 6487372
Abstract: A photometry device has a normal light photometry sensor and a external light sensor. The normal light photometry sensor performs photometry with respect to an object. The external light sensor performs photometry with respect color components of the external light. An exposure amount of an object is determined based on an output of a normal light sensor. If a difference between the exposure values is greater than the predetermined value, a color judged in the colorimetry procedure is forcibly set to “colorless” and no substantial colorimetric compensation is performed. If the Bv difference is not greater than the predetermined value, the light source compensation data preliminary stored is used for the colorimetric compensation.

  • Publication number: 20020172132
Abstract: Disclosed is an objective lens of an optical pick-up that converges light beams of two different wavelengths onto recording layers of optical discs of two different recording densities, respectively. The objective lens includes a refractive lens whose one surface is divided into a common area through which a light beam of a low NA, which is necessary and sufficient for an optical disc having low recording density, passes and a high NA exclusive area through which a light beam of a high NA, which is necessary only for an optical disc having high recording density, passes. A diffractive lens structure is formed in both the areas. The diffractive lens structure in the common area maximizes the diffraction efficiency of the first order and that in the high NA exclusive area maximizes the diffraction efficiency of the second or third order at the wavelength corresponding to the optical disc having high recording density.

  • Patent number: 6483591
Abstract: A pattern reading apparatus reads a pattern from a reflective object. The pattern reading apparatus includes a minute-area light source, an objective lens system, an imaging lens, and an imaging element. The objective lens system causes the illumination light beam from the light source to be incident on the object and converges the light beam reflected from the object. The imaging lens forms an image of the object using only a diffused component of light which has been reflected from the object. A spatial filter has a shading region that shades a portion of the reflected light beam from the object surface which has passed through the spatial filter and forms the image of the light source. The imaging element reads the image of the pattern formed by the light beam having passed through the spatial filter.
