    Abstract: Provided is a modified polyphenylene ether resin which is a reaction product of 100 parts by weight of (A) a polyphenylene ether having a main chain structure of the following formula (1): (wherein R1 and R4 each independently represents hydrogen, a primary or secondary lower alkyl, a phenyl, an aminoalkyl or a hydrocarbonoxy, and R2 and R3 each independently represent, hydrogen, a primary or secondary lower alkyl or a phenyl), and 0.01 to 10.0 parts by weight of (B) a modifier selected from conjugated non-aromatic diene compounds, dienophilic compounds having one dienophile group and precursors of the diene or dienophilic compounds, wherein the number of rearrangement structures each represented by the following formula (2): (wherein R1, R2, R3, and R1 have the same meanings as defined above in the formula (1)) is less than 0.01 per 100 phenylene ether units of the formula (1).

    Abstract: A throttle-opening detecting apparatus has a case mounted on a handle bar of a vehicle, a throttle grip mounted on a leading end side of the handle bar so as to be rotatable with respect to the handle bar, a throttle-opening sensor incorporated in the case for detecting a rotation angle of the throttle grip and, a friction plate applying a frictional force in an opposite direction with respect to the rotation of the throttle grip to the throttle grip while the throttle grip is rotated so as to provide a throttle-opening detecting apparatus which not only can omit the throttle wire but also can obtain the rotation load of the throttle grip similar to the conventional throttle-opening detecting apparatus to thereby permit execution of the operation of the throttle grip without giving the driver a strange feeling.

These surfactants do not contain any phenyl ether group considered to have significant effects on the environment, such as a nonylphenyl group, and have performance comparable with reactive surfactants containing one or more phenyl ether groups.

    Abstract: Soymilk and tofu manufacturing method increases a ratio of fine soymilk particles to provide soymilk and tofu that have no grassy smell and are excellent in the taste and flavor, especially in the rich and milky taste. Raw material soybeans are dipped in softened water and ground while softened water is being added. Soy pulp thereof is separated to obtain soymilk. A high temperature, reduced pressure treatment is applied wherein the soymilk is first heated to 120 to 150° C. and then the pressure is reduced to ?0.05 to ?0.08 MPa. Thereafter, a high pressure treatment is applied wherein a double tube type heating device is employed, the soymilk flows within an inner tube and heating medium flows in a space between the inner tube and outer tube and the soymilk is treated under a pressure of 5 to 15 MPa and a temperature of 70 to 100° C. Or, a high pressure homogenizer is used and the soymilk is treated under a pressure of 20 to 150 MPa and a temperature of 70 to 80° C.

Having a novel structure that has not been obtained by conventional techniques, the functionalized polyphenylene ether of the present invention has an excellent color tone, contains little black foreign substance, and provides polymer alloys with superior mechanical characteristics when blended with different polymers, and therefore makes it possible to provide products and parts in various industrial fields that will sufficiently meet the industrial demands.
