Abstract: A shared video data storage system eliminates the need for a costly dedicated server and high performance network connection in audio/video media delivery applications. Instead of stations requesting material from a server and waiting for the data to be delivered across the network from the storage devices via the server, the storage devices are connected locally to each station. Access is arbitrated locally over a low performance (and consequently lower cost) network and access is provided directly via the storage interface.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for quickly accessing and technically organizing nonlinear digital video clips for purposes of editing, processing or playback using directly-mapped keyboard assignments. Video clips are directly mapped to individual keys of a conventional QWERTY keyboard. A selected video clip is accessed and brought into the "source" side of the editing system via a single keystroke.
