Patent number: 11816167Abstract: An electronic computing system receives a document and identifies steps for processing the document. Each step is associated with a respective machine learning model trained to generate an output. The system subdivides content of the document into a plurality of chunks. For each step and for each chunk, the system applies the respective machine learning model to the chunk to generate an output and a confidence value. The system compares the confidence value to a threshold value. In accordance with a determination that the confidence value exceeds the threshold value, the system stores the output as final output for the chunk and the step. In accordance with a determination that the confidence value does not exceed the threshold value, the system requests user input for the chunk and the step, and the system stores received user input as final output for the chunk and step.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2021Date of Patent: November 14, 2023Assignee: Ascent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Christopher Allan Doyle, Spencer Thomas Allee, Brian T. Patent number: 11803884Abstract: A system is provided for generating compliance manuals from modularized data and taxonomy-based classifications of regulatory obligations. The system comprises a plurality of databases storing regulatory compliance data and a plurality of processors that process the regulatory compliance data to generate business requirements for complying with regulatory obligations and corresponding compliance information related to the business requirements. A taxonomy engine receives business operating parameters related to a first business and identifies a subset of the business requirements and compliance information related to the business operating parameters of the first business. The taxonomy engine further aggregates the business requirements and the compliance information related to the business operation parameters and generates a compliance manual containing the business requirements and the compliance information for use by the first business.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2016Date of Patent: October 31, 2023Assignee: Ascent Technologies Inc.Inventor: Brian T. Publication number: 20190384487Abstract: An application's users are divided into two groups: administrative users and end-users. Each type of region, produced on an application's screen, is assigned a class. Each actual occurrence, of a region type, is called an instance. An end-user invokes a user-added feature by indicating a screen location and inputting a unique signal. The classes, of the screen-region instances present at the indicated location, determine whether one or more rules are activated. The rules are written by an administrative user. If activated, a rule produces a URL in accordance with an administrative-user-defined template. A value stored in the instances present, at the location indicated when the unique signal occurred, are accessed in a template by including the name of the value as a parameter. Each parameter is substituted by the text-equivalent of its current value. The URL produced can be used to provide the information desired by the end-user.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 26, 2015Publication date: December 19, 2019Applicant: ASCENT TECHNOLOGY, INC.Inventors: Philippe Brou, Allan C. Wechsler

Publication number: 20060041458Abstract: The present disclosure relates to scenario-management systems for use in resource-allocation systems. In an exemplary embodiment, a scenario editor comprises means for creating, editing, and storing business rules, rule groups, and in a database; and means for creating links among selected business rules, rule groups, and scenarios, such that changes to a first business rule, rule group, or scenario are reflected in a second business rule, rule group, or scenario linked to the first. In further embodiments, the scenario editor further comprises means for associating a scenario with a particular time period. In a further exemplary embodiment, a scenario-management system comprises a central database of business rules, and a processor configured to identify an active scenario, create a list of rule IDs corresponding to the business rules associated with the active scenario, and pass the list of rule IDs to a resource-allocation module.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2005Publication date: February 23, 2006Applicant: Ascent Technology, Inc.Inventors: Robert Ringrose, Sundar Narasimhan, Stephen Fleming, Jonathan Bliss, Philippe Brou

Patent number: 6115482Abstract: An optical-input print reading device with voice output for people with impaired or no vision in which the user provides input to the system from hand gestures. Images of the text to be read, on which the user performs finger- and hand-based gestural commands, are input to a computer, which decodes the text images into their symbolic meanings through optical character recognition, and further tracks the location and movement of the hand and fingers in order to interpret the gestural movements into their command meaning. In order to allow the user to select text and align printed material, feedback is provided to the user through audible and tactile means. Through a speech synthesizer, the text is spoken audibly. For users with residual vision, visual feedback of magnified and image enhanced text is provided. Multiple cameras of the same or different field of view can improve performance.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1998Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Ascent Technology, Inc.Inventors: James T.
