Patent number: 5775287Abstract: A connecting rod for an internal combustion engine includes a body, a first end and a second end which is larger than the first end. This forms two bearings at the first and second ends, and each receives a piston shaft and a crank shaft pin. The connecting rod is comprised of two parts, approximately symmetrical with respect to a longitudinal median plane of the connecting rods. Their joint surface is essentially arranged in the median plane. The parts each carry a half-bearing of the first end and a half-bearing of the second end, and they are connected to one another by at least one immobilization device.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: AscometalInventor: Michel Genouille

Patent number: 5739724Abstract: An oscillator supplies a signal of adjustable frequency to drive power ultrasonic actuators. The oscillator frequency is varied and the phase between the voltage and current of the signal is continuously measured. A computer determines the sign of the variation in the absolute value of the phase in the course of successive sampling cycles of predetermined duration and produces therefrom frequency correction signals for the oscillator. A frequency correction is applied to the oscillator in the same direction as the frequency correction applied previously if the variation in absolute value of the phase is negative, and in the opposite direction if the variation in absolute value of the phase is positive. If the variation in absolute value of the phase is zero, a frequency correction of random sign is applied to the oscillator.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1996Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Sollac and Ascometal S.A.Inventors: Patrick Alexandre, Pierre Claessen, Guy Joannes, Michel Nogues

Patent number: 5667605Abstract: The invention relates to a method for fabricating a piece of structural steel that includes thermal or thermomechanical treatment steps that could ordinarily lower the fatigue strength and shock and impact resistance of the steel piece. In the method of the invention a workpiece of microalloy steel is fabricated containing the following elements in the mounts indicated and having a bainitic structure:______________________________________ C 0.05-0.5 wt. % Mo 0-0.5 wt. % Mn 1-2 wt. % V 0-0.30 wt. % Si 0.05-1.5 wt. % B 0-0.010 wt. % Cr 0.1-1 wt. % Ti 0-0.030 wt. % Nb 0-0.1 wt. % ______________________________________The workpiece is then subjected to a treatment that includes a heating stage wherein at least a part of said piece is subjected to a temperature in the range 500.degree.-900.degree. C., followed by a cooling stage in which at least the part of the piece is subjected to cooling at a rate greater than 500.degree.
